Chapter 23 Chasing Her Home

Wu Xuerou responded with a dazed expression, cradling her head, "Mm."

Upon recognizing the visitor, the reporters snapped out of their shock and began snapping photos of Jiang Ziyu.

"Madam Emperor, what is your response to the child who was sent to the ICU because of you?"

"Can you explain why you beat a seven-year-old child?"

As the reporters crowded around, Wu Xuerou seized the opportunity to escape.

Her plan had worked; there was no further benefit in staying.

With the reporters outnumbering her, even Jiang Ziyu's agility couldn't help her leave with Qianqian while being questioned by Wu Xuerou.

She shielded Qianqian's head, preventing the reporters from getting any shots of her.

"North China Magazine, New City Newspaper!" Emperor Mingjue, supported by Shen Lin, approached Jiang Ziyu.

The anger on his face was so palpable that even his sunglasses couldn't hide it. The reporters who were called out hesitated, clutching their cameras.

"If any of the photos taken today are published online or in newspapers, I, Emperor Mingjue, will make sure these two newspapers disappear from the capital," Emperor Mingjue warned in a cold voice.

His words were never mere boasts.

The reporters exchanged glances, and their cameras were lowered.

"Take out the memory cards!"

"Mr. Emperor, this..."

The lead reporter reluctantly protected his camera.

Shen Lin stepped forward from behind the wheelchair and snatched all the cameras.

In a matter of seconds, over a dozen memory cards were destroyed before the reporters' eyes.

"I do not wish to see you here again, or your fate will be the same as these memory cards," Emperor Mingjue stated, radiating a murderous aura.

Although livelihoods were precious, life was even more so.

The reporters dared not defy Emperor Mingjue and scattered like rats, fleeing with their cameras.

With peace restored, Jiang Ziyu revealed Qianqian's head from her embrace. "Don't be scared, the bad people have been chased away."

Qianqian clung tightly to Jiang Ziyu's neck, as if afraid she would vanish.

Seeing her timidity, Jiang Ziyu felt a surge of murderous intent. She scanned her surroundings and found Wu Xuerou had disappeared. She vowed not to let her off the hook easily when they returned home.

"Alright, take Qianqian home," Emperor Mingjue said.

The car was already parked by the roadside. At Jiang Ziyu's urging, the journey that usually took half an hour to reach the Emperor's residence was completed in just fifteen minutes.

As soon as they alighted, Jiang Ziyu, carrying Qianqian with one arm, strode into the front hall with an imposing air.

Wu Xuerou had just arrived home and hadn't had a moment to catch her breath and figure out an explanation when Jiang Ziyu appeared behind her.

"Second sister-in-law." A cold breeze swept through, raising goosebumps all over Wu Xuerou's body.

She turned around shakily, not daring to meet Jiang Ziyu's gaze directly.

"C-cousin-in-law."

"You left rather quickly. There were some things I didn't get a chance to ask you about."

Jiang Ziyu stared intently at Wu Xuerou's face.

"I... I suddenly remembered I had something to attend to at home, so I returned first," Wu Xuerou offered a casual excuse.

Something to attend to at home?

Jiang Ziyu snorted, pressing her with an aggressive tone, "Is that so? I'm quite curious about what could have made second sister-in-law leave in such a hurry."

"This..." Wu Xuerou stammered.

Breaking out in a cold sweat, she racked her brain for a plausible reason but found none.

At this moment, Jiang Ziyu was like a raging inferno, threatening to burn anyone who got too close.

"It was Qianqian!" Wu Xuerou suddenly moved in front of Qianqian and grabbed her hand. "Qianqian asked me to take her to see you."

Qianqian?

Jiang Ziyu looked down suspiciously.

Children don't lie. When questioned, Qianqian obediently nodded.

"I was truly trying to do a good deed, but it backfired. I never expected reporters to show up at the company entrance," Wu Xuerou said, seizing the opportunity to feign distress.

The elderly lady coming downstairs observed the scene in the living room and inquired with concern, "What's happened now?"
