The air in the room grew heavy. Ye Ziyu complied with Di Mingjue, responding, "Marital relationship."
"Then let me ask you again, what is most needed between husband and wife?"
"Trust?"
Di Mingjue nodded in acknowledgment, "Correct."
After going in circles, Ye Ziyu still couldn't understand why Di Mingjue was asking these questions.
"I told you, no matter what you do, I will support you from behind. Don't be afraid, be bold and do what you want to do."
Her heart pounded, and Ye Ziyu's nervous heart came alive at this moment.
She threw herself into Di Mingjue's arms, her arms encircling his waist, "It's so good to have you."
"You are my gift, and I became better because of you." Di Mingjue continuously supplied Ye Ziyu with a sense of security.
The love she lacked in childhood was now making up for the void in her heart, doubly so.
...
The Ye family's back garden.
Little Ran, taking advantage of the adults' inattention, decided to bring Yuze and Qianqian down from upstairs. They bypassed the busy maids in the living room and went out of the house.
"There's a swing!"
Qianqian pointed to the open space behind the flower bed.
Seeing that she liked it, Little Ran took her there.
As soon as she sat on the swing, boys of similar age emerged from behind the flower bed.
Qianqian clutched the swing ropes, nervously calling out to Yuze.
The boy was dressed in black and wore a baseball cap, his face obscured.
Yuze gently brought Qianqian down, shielding her behind him, and stared at the boy in front of them with Little Ran.
"Are you Di Mingjue's children?"
"You look about my age. You should call my father Uncle, not call him by his name directly."
Although the boy's tone was not friendly, Little Ran found him to be very approachable. It was as if they had met somewhere a long time ago.
"Uncle?" The boy snorted, "He's not worthy!"
Walking forward, the boy glanced at Qianqian, who was hiding behind Yuze.
"Hey!" Little Ran turned and called out to him, "Are you also one of the Ye family's children?"
The boy did not respond and quickly disappeared around the corner.
Qianqian emerged from behind Yuze, looking at the direction the boy had left, "He's so cold."
"Stay away from him next time you see him," Yuze advised.
"I think he's quite cool," Little Ran was full of interest in him.
Dressed in a black leather jacket and speaking so coldly, he made one want to explore him at first glance.
Yuze cautiously reminded, "We've just arrived, we shouldn't cause trouble for Mom."
Yuze, with his delicate mind, could sense Madam Ye's dislike towards them. Compared to Madam Di, the contrast was too stark.
He roughly understood why Ye Ziyu had come here. Thinking of her enduring the old lady's indifferent attitude, they couldn't possibly burden her any further.
Coming out of the back garden, they happened to meet Ye Chenhan, who was coming downstairs. The boy from earlier stood beside him, and the two were discussing something.
Admiration made Little Ran forget Yuze's warning, and he ran towards them.
"Uncle, who is he?"
Xingxing looked at Little Ran and moved a step to the left defensively.
"This is Xingxing, the son of your eldest uncle. By age, Xingxing should be your younger brother," Ye Chenhan mused.
Younger brother?
Little Ran stared intently at Xingxing, but the baseball cap obscured most of his face.
"Xingxing, I haven't introduced you yet. This is likely your aunt's son. His name is Little Ran. From now on, you'll have someone to play with at home."
"I don't have time to play with him."
Xingxing curtly rejected Ye Chenhan's suggestion.
Having his face rejected by a child, Ye Chenhan looked embarrassed. Xingxing was a child he had watched grow up. He was born with a cold temperament. Occasionally, he thought that he truly was the child of his elder brother. He was carved from the same mold; even the gentlest words would feel chilling coming from their mouths.
