Shen Meixiu said whatever she wanted, but Ye Ziyu didn't argue with her.
Hearing her increasingly excessive words, she glanced back, "Auntie, please calm down. There are many people at the Ye family today. It won't look good if you are seen being so aggressive."
Everyone was praising Shen Meixiu for being magnanimous, readily accepting her husband's child from another woman. Little did they know, she herself knew that no one had asked for her opinion on whether she accepted them or not.
Shen Meixiu glared at her sharp tongue with hatred.
"I won't keep you company any longer, Auntie," Ye Ziyu said, bidding farewell and walking forward.
The dress was truly an eyesore, and Shen Meixiu's raging anger drove her to a mad act.
She stepped on the hem of the dress, and as Ye Ziyu moved forward, there was a tearing sound. She quickly covered her chest.
With the hem of the dress ruined, Shen Meixiu exaggeratedly lifted her foot from it, "Oh dear, how did my foot get caught on the hem?"
Accidental?
Ye Ziyu couldn't be bothered to argue with her.
Bending down to pick up the hem from the floor, Ye Ziyu went upstairs without another word and returned to her room.
She still had to cut the cake with everyone later, and with a piece of the hem torn, she couldn't wear it downstairs anymore.
Taking off the dress, Ye Ziyu wrapped herself in a bathrobe and retrieved a pair of scissors from the bathroom.
She held them over the dress for a moment, picturing the plan. Then, Ye Ziyu directly cut. Listening to the fabric rustle under the scissors, the long dress was transformed into a short one.
She held up the straps and tried it on, feeling it was too plain. Looking at the discarded hem, she turned her attention to it.
With the same dress, the tailoring resulted in two different effects.
Ye Ziyu admired herself in the mirror, satisfied. Suddenly, there was a knock on the door from outside.
"Coming," she called out.
She unlocked the door and saw Di Mingjue standing before her.
Di Mingjue frowned, his gaze scanning her from head to toe, "What happened?"
"A small accident," Ye Ziyu released the doorknob and turned in front of Di Mingjue, "How is it?"
"Very beautiful!" Di Mingjue stepped into the room and with a flick of his foot, the door was locked.
Di Mingjue led Ye Ziyu to the bedside. With nowhere to retreat, Ye Ziyu was forced to sit on the bed.
"Who did he introduce you to among the entrepreneurs just now?" Ye Ziyu tilted her head back, her alluring gaze captivating Di Mingjue.
Opening his arms, he pulled her into an embrace, Di Mingjue resting his forehead against Ye Ziyu's, "I'm getting jealous!"
With the dress modified, Ye Ziyu's figure was perfectly highlighted. The thought of the men downstairs ogling her made Di Mingjue uncomfortable.
He hooked a strap of Ye Ziyu's dress, coaxing her, "It's a bit cold outside, put on a jacket."
"Cold?" Ye Ziyu feigned ignorance, stretching her neck to look out the window.
Di Mingjue stood up, took off his jacket, and forcefully draped it over Ye Ziyu's shoulders, "Yes, don't catch a cold."
His jacket was large, and when Ye Ziyu put it on, it was as if she were wearing an adult's clothes, enveloping her entire upper body.
Ye Ziyu shook her shoulders, trying to shrug off the jacket, "No, this looks too strange."
"No, you can't sacrifice warmth for style," Di Mingjue pressed her shoulders, preventing her from shaking off the jacket.
They stared at each other, neither willing to back down.
Ye Ziyu's eyes gleamed with mischief as she pounced forward, "Your jealousy is so sour, the Ye family doesn't need to buy vinegar anymore."
"I am jealous," Di Mingjue lunged forward, pushing Ye Ziyu onto the bed.
Their faces were inches apart, their breaths mingling as their hearts pounded. Seeing Di Mingjue lower his head, Ye Ziyu closed her eyes.
The kiss she expected didn't come. Instead, Di Mingjue lightly tapped her head, "Be good, find a suitable jacket to wear over it."
If she didn't do as he wished tonight, he would likely be unhappy for the entire evening.
