Midway through the meal, a commotion erupted in the courtyard.
The old lady signaled the butler to go and see.
Before the man had even left the main hall, servants were pushing Di Jianhan and supporting Lu Sisi as they strode in grandly.
"Jianhan?" the old lady looked at the two entering.
Di Jianhan's injuries were quite severe, with half of his body supported by steel plates.
"Why aren't you recuperating in the hospital before returning?" the old lady asked.
He would have liked to recover at the hospital before returning, but Di Mingjue's actions made him unable to rest assured in the hospital.
The servants pushed him to the dining table and added a set of bowls and chopsticks for them.
After having run away from home once and returning, Lu Sisi felt a bit awkward sitting at the dining table again. Everyone surrounded Di Jianhan, making her feel like an invisible person, unnoticed by anyone.
"Running away from home doesn't suit you," Jiang Ziyu said to Lu Sisi across the dining table.
She thought she could control Di Mingjue by running away from home? Unfortunately, the Di family still only cared about Di Jianhan.
Their eyes met, and Lu Sisi no longer pretended to be friendly with Jiang Ziyu.
"We'll find out later if it suits me or not." After speaking, she turned to the old lady and apologized, "I'm sorry."
Her words drew everyone's attention to her.
The old lady looked at her with surprise, "Why are you apologizing?"
"It's my fault that Uncle got injured. If I hadn't insisted on going back, Uncle wouldn't have had a car accident while looking for me." Lu Sisi's tears flowed like a faucet, with the switch at her command.
The pleasant atmosphere was disrupted by her crying, causing everyone to look at her awkwardly. It made it seem as though others had wronged her.
The old lady's expression was calm and cold. She spoke, interrupting Lu Sisi's crying, "No one blames you, and you shouldn't dwell on this."
"But..."
"Sisi, just stay here with peace of mind. Don't think about anything else; no one dislikes you."
Lu Sisi had intended to involve Di Mingjue again, but her words were abruptly cut off by Di Jianhan. With no further opportunity to speak, she could only nod feebly.
Seeing her crestfallen expression, Jiang Ziyu couldn't help but smile.
After dinner, Di Jianhan specifically called Di Mingjue to the study.
He said they needed to talk, and the entire conversation revolved around Lu Sisi.
Di Jianhan resorted to emotional appeals, deliberately putting pressure on Di Mingjue.
After years of not seeing each other, Di Mingjue was no longer the child who would have his thoughts dictated by them simply because they were older.
"There are servants at home; she can tell them if she needs anything. Also, no one here dislikes her or wants her to leave. Please tell her not to throw tantrums and run away from home again. If there's a next time, it might not be someone else who gets hurt."
"When did you become so cold? Regardless, Sisi is my savior. I owe her my life for taking care of me all these years, which is why I can return safely."
"You said she is your savior, but she isn't mine."
Di Mingjue stated his stance.
Seeing his firm attitude, Di Jianhan angrily questioned him, "Fine, let's see how stubborn you can be."
After uttering the harsh words, Di Jianhan left Di Mingjue alone in the study. As he came out, he saw Jiang Ziyu holding Qianqian, preparing to return to her room.
"Hmph!" Di Jianhan, with a displeased look and exuding coldness, left.
His behavior made Qianqian in Jiang Ziyu's arms even more distant towards him.
It seemed the talk hadn't gone well again!
Jiang Ziyu stopped at the study door, waiting for Di Mingjue to come out.
"What are you doing here?" Di Mingjue looked at her with surprise, then glanced towards the staircase, "He didn't trouble you, did he?"
Does a cold "hmph" count?
Jiang Ziyu shook her head, "Qianqian is fussing and wants you to tell her a story."
"Okay, we'll go back to the room now and tell her a story together." Di Mingjue's expression shifted from tense to happy as he escorted them back to the room.
