Jiang Ziyu, fearing that unsavory characters might appear in the ward later, shared her concerns with Di Mingjue. Having done so, Di Mingjue no longer insisted she stay.
Exiting the ward, Jiang Ziyu looked at the nurses in the corridor.
“Hello, could you tell me where Dr. Chu Tian’s office is located?”
The nurse stepped aside and pointed to the end of the corridor, “Go straight and then turn right; the first office is Dr. Chu’s.”
“Okay, thank you.”
Following the nurse’s directions, Jiang Ziyu arrived outside the office of the so-called Dr. Chu Tian.
Knock, knock!
After two knocks, a voice responded from inside the office.
“Yes?” The doctor at the desk looked up, gazing curiously at Jiang Ziyu, who had just pushed the door open.
Jiang Ziyu’s eyes immediately fell upon the nameplate standing on the desk.
“Are you Dr. Chu Tian?”
“I am.”
Having received confirmation, Jiang Ziyu walked over. She met the doctor’s gaze and spoke, “Hello, Dr. Chu. I am a friend of patient 430. You just examined my friend in the ward and didn’t say anything, so I wanted to understand my friend’s condition.”
“Did you say patient in ward 430?” Chu Tian repeated the question.
Jiang Ziyu nodded, “Yes, you were here about ten minutes ago. I saw the nameplate on your desk.”
Chu Tian put down his pen and leaned back comfortably in his chair, “You must be mistaken. I’ve been seeing patients all this time and haven’t had the chance to check on any wards. Furthermore, 430 is not my patient, and I certainly wouldn’t go to examine him.”
His demeanor was casual and natural, and Jiang Ziyu’s heart settled on an answer.
She stood up from her chair apologetically and said sheepishly, “I’m terribly sorry to have bothered you. I must have been mistaken.”
“It’s alright. If you need anything, you can see Dr. Hu Xiang. He is the attending physician for 430,” Chu Tian told Jiang Ziyu.
After offering her sincere thanks, Jiang Ziyu left the doctor’s office. She turned back towards the ward and looked up at the signs hanging on the wall.
Taking the elevator all the way to the monitoring room, Jiang Ziyu stopped at the door due to the warning sign posted there. xxs
According to hospital regulations, unauthorized personnel were not permitted to enter the monitoring room.
To get in, it seemed she would need to leverage some connections.
Jiang Ziyu took out her phone from her pocket and called Di Mingjue.
Soon, a hospital official responsible for security arrived at the monitoring room door.
“Madam Di? I’m Chen Hui, the hospital’s safety management officer.” Chen Hui extended his hand and greeted her proactively.
Jiang Ziyu looked at the work badge on his chest, nodded, and stated her purpose, “I’d like to view the surveillance footage from outside ward 430.”
“Mr. Di has already informed me. I’ve arranged for staff to retrieve the footage, and we can go in to watch it now.”
Led by Chen Hui, Jiang Ziyu entered the monitoring room.
An entire wall of the monitoring room was covered with electronic screens of identical size, displaying surveillance footage from various floors of the hospital, including the monitoring of the attending physician’s office.
“Madam Di, this is the surveillance footage from outside room 430 today. Is there a specific time frame you’d like to see? I’ll have the staff adjust it to your requested time,” Chen Hui asked respectfully, bending slightly towards Jiang Ziyu.
Di Mingjue had contacted the hospital director, and Chen Hui had received a direct call from the director, explicitly instructing him to take good care of Mr. and Mrs. Di Mingjue and to fulfill their requests to the best of his ability, provided it did not jeopardize the hospital.
Jiang Ziyu calculated the time, “Please retrieve the footage from two hours ago.”
“Certainly.” Chen Hui instructed the staff member at the computer to retrieve the footage.
A few seconds later, a small screen expanded into a large one. The angle they had retrieved was precisely focused on the door of ward 430.
Ward 430 was a private room, and the corridor had fewer people compared to the larger wards housing multiple patients. Besides the occasional patient and their family members, doctors and nurses in white coats were the most frequent presences.
