"Five people?" the waitress asked as soon as she saw them enter.
The dining tables in the hall were almost all occupied. Jiang Ziyu surveyed the room and nodded at the waitress, "Do we need to wait?"
"No need, we have seating upstairs." The waitress took a ordering tablet from behind the counter and led them up to the second floor via a side staircase.
Compared to the first floor, the scenery on the second floor was even better. They chose a window seat, and with a turn of their heads, they could see the entire bay.
The waitress placed the menus on the table. Looking at the menu compiled with photos, Jiang Ziyu could feel the owner's dedication to this establishment.
"Qianqian, see what you'd like to eat."
The menu naturally fell in front of Qianqian.
It was Qianqian's first time trying Sichuan cuisine. She looked at the vibrant red colors of each picture and then playfully glanced at Xiao Ran and Yu Ze across from her.
"You brothers pick," she said, pushing the menu towards them.
"I'll do it."
Looking at the menu before him, Xiao Ran didn't hold back. He picked up the menu, rolled up his sleeves, and enthusiastically examined every dish.
Xiao Ran knew Jiang Ziyu's and Yu Ze's tastes well, so he selected dishes they were fond of. After choosing a few, he asked Di Mingjue, like a seasoned elder, "Daddy, what do you like to eat?"
The menu was turned, presenting it to Di Mingjue.
"Have you chosen?"
"Yes, they're all mom and our favorites. What about you and Qianqian, what do you like?" Xiao Ran looked at the menu, gazing earnestly at him.
After spending this much time together, he hadn't realized Jiang Ziyu enjoyed spicy food.
"What your mother likes, I like too."
"Are you sure?"
Jiang Ziyu looked at him with suspicion.
Besides spicy food, Jiang Ziyu also enjoyed eating various animal offal, especially when boiled in a spicy hot pot. That, to her, was a delicacy.
"Of course. If I love you, I will love everything about you," Di Mingjue seized the moment to confess his feelings to Jiang Ziyu.
Raising an eyebrow at him, Jiang Ziyu eagerly awaited the moment he would beg for mercy, tears in his eyes.
Despite the crowded restaurant, the food arrived quickly.
As the dishes were placed on the table, the aroma of spice instantly permeated the air.
Di Mingjue rubbed his nose, his face pale as he swallowed hard. At a glance, the plates were filled with various shapes of chili peppers.
"Eat, it's very delicious." Jiang Ziyu picked up a dish in front of her and placed it on Di Mingjue's plate.
She watched expectantly, waiting for him to put the food in his mouth.
Facing several pairs of eyes, Di Mingjue forced himself to put the food in his mouth.
"Cough—"
Before he could even chew, the spiciness hit his throat. He dropped his chopsticks, quickly covered his mouth, and began to cough violently.
Seeing his eyes well up with tears, Jiang Ziyu smiled and patted his back, then placed the lemon water in front of him. "If you can't eat it, don't force yourself."
After gulping down a cup of ice-cold lemon water, the spicy sensation in his mouth was finally soothed. He sniffled, rubbed his eyes, and looked at the food before him as if they were all baring their teeth and lunging at him.
Shivering, he looked at Jiang Ziyu with a wronged expression. "It's too spicy. I need to soak it in water."
Jiang Ziyu, chuckling, beckoned the waitress to bring two cups of plain water.
One was placed in front of Di Mingjue, and the other in front of Qianqian.
Unexpectedly, Qianqian could easily eat the spicy food that Di Mingjue couldn't handle.
"Not spicy?" Di Mingjue looked at her in disbelief as she calmly ate a piece of spicy beef.
Qianqian shook her head and, holding her chopsticks, tried another piece nearby.
Di Mingjue shrugged in disbelief, looking at the children who were unfazed by the spice. "Why?"
"It's a gene I inherited from the womb," Jiang Ziyu teased.
She had craved spicy food during her pregnancy, so naturally, the child born would not be afraid of it.
