Chapter 327 Obstacles to His Plans

"Who is this?"

"Dr. Xu."

Di Ruihe responded to the old lady before anyone else.

Upon learning he was there to treat Qianqian, the old lady became immediately enthusiastic. She ordered a servant to bring him tea and water while gesturing for him to sit on the sofa.

Xu Zehong sat on the sofa, feeling constrained and breaking out in a cold sweat.

Led by a servant, Jiang Ziyu carried Qianqian to the front hall. Seeing Xu Zehong on the sofa, her guard immediately went up.

"Cousin-in-law, Dr. Xu is here for a follow-up check on Qianqian," Di Ruihe informed her of his intention.

Meeting force with force, Jiang Ziyu spoke up proactively to voice her doubts. "Dr. Xu, you've come at just the right time. She's been taking the medicine you prescribed for two days now, and not only has it shown no effect, but she vomits every time she takes it."

Vomiting?

Both Di Ruihe and Xu Zehong expressed their confusion simultaneously.

There was nothing wrong with the prescribed medicine; even if it were ineffective, it wouldn't cause vomiting.

Xu Zehong glared at Di Ruihe, feeling deeply deceived by him.

"Is that so? Why didn't you mention it yesterday, cousin-in-law?" Di Ruihe pressed.

"At first, I thought she had eaten something bad. But then she vomited every time she took the medicine, which made me suspect this," Jiang Ziyu said, placing the medicine she had just brought onto the coffee table.

Since the medicine was perfectly fine, Di Ruihe wasn't worried at all. After a glance at the remaining quantity of medicine, he said to Xu Zehong, "Perhaps she's allergic to a certain component. Why doesn't Dr. Xu prepare a new prescription?"

The conversation naturally shifted to the medication, and Xu Zehong seized the opportunity. "Certainly. I'll do an allergy test for her shortly. I'll switch to a different medicine and have her try it for a while."

Xu Zehong's hand trembled as he handed the medicine, which contained toxic substances mixed with the normal medication, to Jiang Ziyu.

Caressing the bottle, Jiang Ziyu shook it up and down, causing the granules inside to tap against the glass. "Is it still three times a day?"

Xu Zehong faltered. He turned to Di Ruihe for help.

Despite such obvious unfamiliarity, the people nearby pretended not to notice.

The old lady, however, sensed something was amiss and couldn't help but ask, "Which hospital does Dr. Xu work at?"

Being asked about his workplace made Xu Zehong even more nervous; he was afraid of revealing a flaw whether he answered or not.

"He's just returned to the country and hasn't started working at any hospital in the capital yet," Di Ruihe acted as his spokesperson, explaining and answering every question.

As the person in question, Xu Zehong merely nodded and played dumb.

Learning that he was currently unemployed, the old lady couldn't help but doubt his capabilities.

Dr. Chen, the family doctor for the Di residence, had a high academic degree and had won various medical awards. Yet, regarding Qianqian's inability to speak, he still hadn't provided an accurate diagnosis or treatment plan.

How could someone who had just returned to the country, with an unknown level of competence, be considered superior to Dr. Chen?

The old lady's attitude turned cold. "They say medicine has its side effects, and children's bodies have weaker resistance than adults. Dr. Xu should ensure the medicine is safe before letting her take it according to the treatment course."

Hearing these words, Jiang Ziyu was deeply touched. In the entire Di residence, besides them, only the old lady genuinely cared for Qianqian.

"Grandma, Dr. Xu's overseas studies specialized in the research of human vocal cords. Don't worry, with his help, Qianqian will surely be able to speak," Di Ruihe urgently wanted to change the old lady's mind, afraid her words might cause Jiang Ziyu to give up as well.

The old lady doted on her great-granddaughter. Impatiently waving her hand, she still refused to let her take medication without any solid evidence.

How could the next steps proceed without her taking the medicine?

Di Ruihe was anxious and argued vehemently, "I'm her uncle; would I harm her?"
