"I'll trouble Doctor Xu then, please be sure to cure her throat." Jiang Ziyu, as if grasping at the last straw, placed all her hopes on him.
Doctor Xu nodded nervously and reached out to take Qianqian's small hand.
Perhaps due to an aura issue, the moment Qianqian touched him, her whole body felt as if she'd been struck, causing her pain and a desire to escape.
As her hand was pulled away, Jiang Ziyu saw Qianqian throwing herself into her arms. Glancing at the impatient Doctor Xu, she bent down and picked her up. "Doctor Xu, please have a seat and rest on the sofa for a while. I'll speak with her and calm her down first."
"Alright," Doctor Xu replied with a gentle expression. "No rush, children are always afraid when they see a doctor."
"Thank you for your understanding, Doctor." Jiang Ziyu responded politely.
With this back and forth, Di Ruihe, who had been on edge, finally felt his heart settle.
He never would have imagined things would go so smoothly!
Moving to her side, Jiang Ziyu crouched in front of Qianqian. "Listen to Mommy, don't be scared. He's just going to do a simple check-up, and Mommy will protect you afterward. They won't have any chance to harm you."
Qianqian felt inexplicably nervous, but facing Jiang Ziyu's comfort, she mustered her courage and nodded in agreement.
Returning to the front hall, Jiang Ziyu helped Qianqian to the sofa. "Doctor Xu, you can do the examination here."
"This…" Doctor Xu turned and glanced at Di Ruihe.
Noticing Jiang Ziyu's questioning gaze, Di Ruihe immediately spoke up, "Doctor Xu, don't be nervous. Just perform your normal examination; we won't interfere."
Hearing this, Doctor Xu relented.
He opened the medical box and stared at the tools inside, hesitating for a long time before he could pick up a single instrument.
Being forced to impersonate a doctor like this, he was likely terrified.
Jiang Ziyu asked with a curious expression, "Doctor Xu, did you forget to bring a tool?"
"No, no," Doctor Xu retorted, his voice trembling.
He then picked up a stethoscope and, with a semblance of professionalism, approached Qianqian.
As his hand moved towards Qianqian's chest, Jiang Ziyu reached out and stopped him. "Wait."
His hand was halted mid-air.
Jiang Ziyu looked at Doctor Xu with suspicion. "Checking the throat requires checking the heartbeat?"
"Yes," Doctor Xu affirmed. Then, hearing a cough from behind him, he shook his head. "No, I just want to listen, to ensure every aspect of the examination is thorough and doesn't affect the subsequent results."
Hearing his elaborate fabrication, Jiang Ziyu feigned enlightenment. "So that's how it is. As expected of a top doctor; you're quite different from those in ordinary hospitals. When they examine patients, they just look at the throat and don't do any other investigations. They casually glance, prescribe some medicine, and tell you to take it three times a day."
"Is that so? But when you're sick, you still need medication," Doctor Xu chimed in helpfully.
Jiang Ziyu's eyes widened in surprise. "Oh, so everyone needs to take medicine. I thought it was because their medical skills were lacking, and they could only compensate with drugs."
Doctor Xu chuckled awkwardly and stopped responding.
The stethoscope landed on Qianqian's chest. Through her clothes, Doctor Xu listened to her heartbeat with a professional demeanor. After a minute, he asked her to open her mouth.
Having examined her inside and out, Doctor Xu began packing his tools. "There's no major issue, just vocal cord damage. With the specially formulated medication I've prepared, you'll be completely recovered within a week."
"Can she speak within a week?" Jiang Ziyu pressed for confirmation.
Doctor Xu nodded affirmatively.
"Then I'll trouble you, Doctor Xu." Jiang Ziyu stood up and took out a pre-prepared red envelope from her pocket, placing it in his hand.
After a perfunctory exchange of pleasantries, the wallet disappeared into his pocket.
As Doctor Xu left, Di Ruihe personally escorted him out.
