The purchased food was plentiful, and at Jiang Ziyu's invitation, Mu Liangchen stayed for dinner.
Jiang Ziyu's culinary skills were not very good. Having been busy with work before, she would follow recipes. Each meal seemed elaborate, but the taste was not good. Therefore, the chef naturally became Mu Liangchen.
The two were in the kitchen, while the three children played with building blocks in the living room. The pattering rain struck the windows, and the temperature difference caused the glass to be covered in a layer of white mist.
"It's raining," Mu Liangchen glanced out the window when he had a moment.
Thinking of the balcony window, Jiang Ziyu put down the vegetables, wiped her hands, and quickly ran to the balcony.
One window was closed, and the loose curtains were sucked out by another window. Jiang Ziyu leaned against the window, stretched her waist, and reached out to grasp the curtains swaying in the wind.
The wind was too strong, and Jiang Ziyu felt the cold raindrops hitting her face as she struggled to pull it back.
The curtains, drenched in rain, were heavy. After much effort, Jiang Ziyu couldn't pull the curtains in; instead, she was almost pulled out by them.
Mu Liangchen, who had walked up behind her, hooked his arms around her waist. With a turn, he switched their positions.
Pulling back the curtains and closing the window, all the actions were exceptionally simple in Mu Liangchen's hands.
"Why didn't you call me?" Mu Liangchen tapped Jiang Ziyu's head. "If I had come any later, I would have had to call 120 for you from downstairs."
Brushing away her bangs that obscured her eyes, Jiang Ziyu looked embarrassed.
Seeing her shy expression, Mu Liangchen was momentarily lost in thought. He hadn't seen her in this state for a long time. Since the establishment of zy Group, Jiang Ziyu had gradually become more authoritative as the company grew.
"What are you looking at?" Jiang Ziyu asked, seeing Mu Liangchen staring at her without speaking.
Suddenly, a burnt smell wafted over.
"Oh no!" Jiang Ziyu shouted towards the kitchen and rushed over.
The pot was emitting white smoke. As soon as the lid was opened, the contents inside were a charred mess.
Mu Liangchen caught up and took the pot handle from her hand. "Let me do it, don't get burned."
The kitchen was not large, and with him standing there, he quickly occupied the space. Jiang Ziyu voluntarily stepped back and looked at the children behind her.
After discarding the burnt dish, they started a new pot. With Mu Liangchen's hard work, a table full of dishes was prepared.
After dinner, Mu Liangchen helped Jiang Ziyu clean up the kitchen. After everything was tidy, he left.
As soon as he left, someone arrived at Jiang Ziyu's residence.
"You're here," Jiang Ziyu walked to the door. "Why are you back?"
As the words fell, she saw Di Mingjue, who shouldn't have been there.
"How can you?" Jiang Ziyu stood in front of the door.
After leaving the company, Di Mingjue was on his way back to the Di residence. Halfway there, he received an anonymous message containing several candid photos of Jiang Ziyu standing by a window, gazing affectionately at a strange man.
He immediately had the driver turn around and head to the address provided in the message.
His eyes shifted from Jiang Ziyu to the gap in the door. "Aren't you going to invite me in for a sit?"
It wasn't just Qianqian inside; Yuze and Xiao Ran were also present. If he saw them, he would surely become suspicious.
Jiang Ziyu stepped forward and closed the door with a swing, trapping both of them outside.
"Oh, look at my brain!" Jiang Ziyu slapped her head, looking back at the tightly closed door with annoyance.
Di Mingjue looked at her home attire and then at the closed door. He said, "Knock on the door, Qianqian will open it."
"Okay," Jiang Ziyu agreed readily.
Turning her back to Di Mingjue, she forcefully patted the door. "Qianqian, open the door, Daddy's here!"
The moment the door was closed, Xiao Ran realized something was wrong. He pulled Yuze and hid in the room, instructing Qianqian to go to the door.
The door opened, and Qianqian stood inside, looking out.
