Chapter 172 Preferences

Jiang Ziyu brought Qianqian out and sat her in a high chair. Turning, she then pushed Di Mingjue to the dining table, transferring him from his wheelchair to the dining chair.

"Is Assistant Shen waiting downstairs for you?" Jiang Ziyu handed him a pair of chopsticks.

Di Mingjue placed the chopsticks on his plate and replied, "I sent him back."

"Back?" Jiang Ziyu looked surprised. "Then how will you get back later?"

"I'm staying here overnight," Di Mingjue responded as if stating a fact.

He wanted to spend more time with Qianqian and do his best to prevent her from becoming overly dependent on Jiang Ziyu.

Jiang Ziyu was reluctant about him staying. However, given the current situation, staying over might be the simplest way to dispel his suspicions.

"I'll tidy up the guest room after dinner," Jiang Ziyu said.

She agreed so readily?

Di Mingjue couldn't read any unusual expression on her face.

As they began to eat, the only sounds at the table were the clinking of bowls and chopsticks.

Jiang Ziyu attended to Qianqian throughout the meal, not even glancing his way.

After dinner, Jiang Ziyu went to the kitchen to clean up, while Di Mingjue accompanied Qianqian in the living room.

Noticing the toys neatly arranged in a corner of the sofa, Di Mingjue became interested in the motorcycle toy.

"Does Qianqian like cars?" he asked curiously.

In his rigid perception, weren't girls supposed to prefer Barbie dolls?

He went to the toy area and discovered that besides cars, there were also helmets.

Qianqian reached out, signaling for Di Mingjue to place the helmet on her head.

It fit perfectly, and with it on, Qianqian exuded a heroic and spirited aura.

Watching her grin happily, Di Mingjue felt a pang of loneliness. In her life so far, he seemed to have never known any of her preferences.

As her biological father, he was less attentive than Jiang Ziyu, her stepmother. Moreover, her mother, who left at birth, would she do a better job even if she returned?

Jiang Ziyu came into the living room with a fruit platter.

"Qianqian, it's time to wash up and rest."

Qianqian obediently came to her. After taking off the helmet, Jiang Ziyu placed it aside. She glanced at Di Mingjue, who was sitting there eating fruit. "I'll take her to sleep. I've already prepared the guest room."

"Okay," Di Mingjue nodded, remaining seated and showing no intention of leaving.

Jiang Ziyu ignored him and took Qianqian back to the master bedroom. As soon as the door closed, Qianqian playfully stuck out her tongue, making a funny face.

As if they had done something mischievous, the two of them lay on the bed, kicking their legs and rolling excitedly.

After some playful activity, Jiang Ziyu took out her phone and made a video call to Yuze and the others downstairs. In the small screen, Xiao Ran excitedly filled the entire frame with her face. "Mommy, has Daddy left?"

Yuze looked helplessly at Xiao Ran, who was dominating the camera, and sat quietly in the background, listening to Jiang Ziyu's response.

"He's staying here tonight. You guys will stay downstairs temporarily. Tomorrow morning, after he leaves, Mommy will take you all to kindergarten."

"Mommy, we saw Daddy in the elevator today. I even helped him get into the elevator successfully."

Jiang Ziyu frowned, a hint of nervousness in her voice. "Did he see you?"

Xiao Ran and Yuze were like miniature versions of Di Mingjue. When everything was still unstable, they couldn't meet him.

"No," Yuze pushed Xiao Ran aside. "Mommy, we were just behind him. After Daddy entered the elevator, Auntie shielded us. Daddy didn't see us, and he didn't suspect anything."

Breathing a sigh of relief, Jiang Ziyu relaxed her guard. "That's good. He'll be coming around often during this time. You two must be careful and absolutely avoid any direct contact with him."

They couldn't afford to take that risk.

"Alright, you should rest now."
