The old lady grabbed the railing just in time, her cane falling to the ground in fright.
"Madam, are you alright?" the butler asked, coming up behind her and supporting her back.
The old lady pushed Jiang Feifei away, her chest heaving as she touched it, still shaken. "What are you wailing about here!"
The more she spoke, the more her tears flowed.
Seeing the situation, the butler said to the old lady, "Let's talk downstairs."
"You come down with me," the old lady commanded, walking past her.
The living room.
Zhao Yanxia stood before the old lady, dark circles under her eyes.
With a large portion of them there, the old lady felt dizzy. She waved her hand, urging her to move aside.
Her emotions had just stabilized, but after being asked to follow, Zhao Yanxia lost control and began to cry uncontrollably.
The incessant crying echoed in her ears. The old lady rubbed her temples, unable to refrain from a loud reprimand, "Stop crying! What happened? Tell me!"
With that outburst, Zhao Yanxia's loud sobs turned into small whimpers. "Di Dongsheng cheated."
"What?" the old lady asked incredulously. "Who did you just say?"
"Di Dongsheng!" Zhao Yanxia shrieked hysterically. "He's involved with Jiang Feifei from the Jiang family."
The old lady had met Jiang Feifei and immediately recognized her improper character. However, Di Dongsheng was someone she had watched grow up. He wasn't the type to philander outside.
"Are you sure you're mistaken?" the old lady asked.
"I saw it with my own eyes an hour ago. I caught them being intimate in the car," Zhao Yanxia retorted, her neck craned.
Recalling the scene, she felt an urge to tear that wicked woman apart to vent her anger.
Seeing her coherent and detailed account, the old lady angrily exclaimed, "Where is he?"
Wu Xuerou sidled up at this moment and replied in a low voice, "Third brother just argued with his wife and ran out."
Arguments between spouses were strictly forbidden within the Di household. The old lady believed that no issue in the world couldn't be discussed, and arguments only drove people further apart instead of solving problems.
"Go back to your room and compose yourself. We'll talk about it when Dongsheng returns," the old lady said.
Zhao Yanxia felt a bit resistant. She mostly regretted arguing with him and letting him run off.
Thinking of what Jiang Feifei had said, she couldn't shake the feeling that Di Dongsheng had left in anger to find Jiang Feifei.
The old lady couldn't stand seeing her in such a dejected state and extended her hand for the butler to help her leave.
It is said that women's intuition is the most acute, and it proved to be true.
Di Dongsheng stepped out of the Di residence and, just two steps later, encountered Jiang Feifei.
"Get in the car!" Jiang Feifei proactively opened the car door for him.
Glancing back at the house behind him, Di Dongsheng didn't hesitate and stepped into the car.
Jiang Feifei hadn't expected that while she was in the car to calm herself down, Di Dongsheng would run out feeling upset. She drove the car, taking him directly to a restaurant in the city center.
As a VIP guest, she was escorted by a dedicated server into a private room on the second floor.
Taking off her sunglasses and mask, Jiang Feifei's facial scar was exposed to Di Dongsheng.
"You have to treat me to a good meal today," Jiang Feifei said to Di Dongsheng. "Your wife hit me. It's quite unfair, really. We have no relationship, yet she insists I'm having an affair with you. Now that I think about it, it's a waste to have taken that beating without making the accusation stick."
As she spoke, her eyes observed Di Dongsheng's reaction.
As the saying goes, a starved camel is still bigger than a horse. No matter how down on his luck Di Dongsheng was, he was still a member of the Di family and could, after all, help the Jiang Corporation secure some collaborations.
After Jiang Feifei finished speaking, Di Dongsheng remained silent, offering no response.
