Chapter 226 Recording Explanation

Wu Jie leaned against the wall, his lips pale. He walked out shakily, stumbling forward with each step.

Was his stomach truly acting up?

The doubt was extinguished by his next movement.

Wu Jie, with his back straight and legs trembling, walked towards the exit.

It wasn't a stomach ache; he was clearly terrified.

Shen Lin watched from behind, a contemptuous smile on his face.

At the door, Alice stepped forward with a worried expression, supporting Wu Jie. "Mr. Wu, are you alright?"

As she spoke, she glanced back at Shen Lin, who was smiling merrily.

Even if something were wrong, Wu Jie wouldn't dare say it. His peripheral vision was fixed on Shen Lin, who followed closely behind, leaving him no chance to escape.

He arrived at the conference room as if walking to his death.

"Mr. Wu, your complexion isn't good. It seems that stomach pain can be life-threatening. After this matter is concluded, I'll introduce you to a doctor." Di Mingjue said with apparent concern.

Wu Jie could only agree. He urged Alice to quickly take him to Di Dongsheng. Even if Di Mingjue were to throw guns and ammunition at him, he believed Di Dongsheng would stand in front to shield him from harm.

"The person is here. What is it, just say it," Di Dongsheng urged.

Hearing this, Wu Jie was dumbfounded. Had he called for a savior or an executioner? Wasn't this clearly handing him over to the enemy's line of fire!

Lowering his head and coughing, Wu Jie tried to draw Di Dongsheng's attention.

"Looking at Mr. Wu's state, he seems quite weak. He was just complaining of stomach pain, and now his throat is uncomfortable. Can your body withstand such a high-intensity project? Don't collapse before the project is even completed," Di Mingjue teased.

These words were more effective than his cough. Di Dongsheng glanced at the sickly Wu Jie and couldn't help but frown.

Once again, he had lifted a rock only to drop it on his own foot!

Wu Jie shook his head, rubbed his throat, and stammered, "I was squatting for too long just now, and my throat is a bit dry. I coughed a couple of times because of the discomfort. Thank you for your concern, Mr. Di, but my health is fine."

"That's good to hear, as the project needs your supervision," Di Mingjue replied.

With this back-and-forth chatter, another ten minutes passed. The always impatient Di Dongsheng could no longer wait. He slammed the table in anger and demanded, "What is it? The person is here, and you're still holding back. Are you trying to fool me?"

Seeing his eagerness to know, Di Mingjue regained his composure. He glanced at Shen Lin, who took out his phone from his pocket.

Soon, a conversation played from the phone.

As Wu Jie listened, he nervously gripped the edge of the table.

Di Dongsheng, however, remained oblivious and became increasingly confused as he listened. "What is this?"

"Let Mr. Wu explain it to you," Di Mingjue said, his gaze fixed on Wu Jie.

Di Dongsheng couldn't wait any longer. He turned and slammed the table, urging, "You tell me!"

As his voice fell, Wu Jie stood up from his chair.

All eyes followed his movement upwards.

"Mr. Di, as you know, the building materials haven't been procured yet, so construction needs to be temporarily halted. We'll resume construction once the materials arrive." Wu Jie closed his eyes and finished in one breath.

Di Dongsheng was aware of what he said, but he didn't understand the connection between this matter and the dialogue in the recording.

Di Dongsheng looked at Di Mingjue with dissatisfaction and sneered, "What, you want to use this trivial matter to suppress me again?"

"Suppression is not the word. I just want to know where the three batches of funds that the company recently allocated have gone," Di Mingjue countered.

There were no detailed breakdowns for the funds, and they were always large sums.

Di Dongsheng's gaze faltered, a fleeting moment of uncertainty. He responded firmly, "Where else could they go? They've all been used for the project. If you want the details, I'll have someone write them out for you later. There's no need to make such a fuss by coming to Wu's Corporation; outsiders might think you're trying to halt the project."
