Chapter 249 Sudden Return

"I know everything about the conference room incident. Are you really going to follow Di Mingjue's orders and go abroad?" Di Ruihe couldn't help but inquire.

Di Dongsheng glanced at him and reached for the car door. As he turned the key and his foot hit the accelerator, Di Ruihe quickly slid into the car.

He asked with concern, "I don't want you to go abroad."

The two were brothers from the same mother, and Di Dongsheng had never considered Di Ruihe a rival.

"Who says I'm leaving?" Di Dongsheng sneered. "Does he really think he can cover the sky with one hand just because he's dealt with those shareholders? He's got quite the nerve to think he can kick me out!"

He stomped on the accelerator, and the car shot forward.

All the way, Di Ruihe continuously voiced his dissatisfaction with Di Mingjue to Di Dongsheng, egging him on to escalate the situation.

The Di Residence.

The old lady was pruning her new flowers in the backyard, with Peking opera playing nearby. The butler collected the trimmed flowers next to her, preparing them to be dried later.

"Mom!"

A man with a strained expression called out to the old lady's back from the arched gate of the backyard.

The butler turned his head, recognized the person, and quickly informed, "Old Madam, your son is back."

The old lady had three children, two sons and one daughter. Before reaching a hundred years old, she had already experienced the bitter suffering of seeing a child pass before a parent.

Placing the pruning shears on a tray, the old lady turned around. "Jiancheng, when did you get back?"

Di Jiancheng was the old lady's youngest son, the third child in the family, and the father of Di Ruihe and Di Dongsheng. After learning of Di Jianhan's accidental death, he wanted to take his place and become the leader of the Di family. However, the old lady had chosen Di Mingjue. Unable to contend, he left the country in anger. He returned to the country partly because he had gambled away all his wealth abroad over the years, and partly because Di Dongsheng had summoned him back.

He excitedly rushed to the old lady's side, opening his arms wide to embrace her tightly. "It's been so many years, how have you been keeping?"

"I'm fine, everything is fine," the old lady patted his back.

No matter what, he was still a piece of flesh that had fallen from her. Sometimes, when she was alone, the old lady would question whether her choices and actions back then were right or wrong.

After their affectionate embrace, Di Jiancheng helped the old lady to a stone bench to rest.

"I heard Mingjue woke up? And he got married?" Di Jiancheng poured tea for the old lady, inquiring with a concerned tone.

The old lady nodded, carefully observing him. "You've lost weight."

Before she finished speaking, tears welled up in the old lady's eyes as she reached out to touch his cheek.

Leveraging the old lady's pity and guilt, Di Jiancheng revealed his barely concealed sadness and covered her hand with his.

With the touch of their skin, the old lady felt even more guilty. She sighed, unable to refrain from scolding, "How could you be so heartless, leaving for so many years?"

As longing surged through her, tears immediately streamed from her eyes. Clenching her fists, the old lady pounded on his chest.

Di Jiancheng did not resist, puffing out his chest to let her strike him.

After her emotions had calmed, the old lady looked up at him. "Why did you suddenly decide to come back?"

"I've been drifting around outside for so many years, and my dissatisfaction with you has dissipated. Moreover, I've also let down Dongsheng and Ruihe, so I couldn't stay away any longer," Di Jiancheng sighed.

The old lady patted his shoulder, her anger rising as she spoke, "It's good that you still have some sense. I thought I would have to wait until the day I died to see you again!"

"How could that be? I'm back now. I won't leave again, and it's time I contributed to the Di Jue Group," Di Jiancheng cautiously observed the old lady's expression.

Contribute?
