Chapter 252 The Child’s Resistance

Avoiding the lively atmosphere, the two came to the back garden.

Di Dongsheng surveyed the surroundings, ensuring no one was present, and then took a USB drive from his pocket.

“What is this?” Di Jiancheng asked curiously.

As the USB drive was placed in his hand, Di Dongsheng instructed, "Later, while you're talking to Third Uncle, find the right moment to give this to him. Remember, don't let anyone else see it."

Touching the small USB drive, Di Jiancheng couldn't help but press further, "What is inside?"

"You'll know when the time comes," Di Dongsheng replied.

Hearing the honking of car horns, the father and son emerged from the back garden.

The old lady, who had gone somewhere, was now returning with Di Mingjue's family of three.

"Is this Mingjue's wife?" Di Jiancheng inquired directly.

He had learned of his uncle's return last night, but Di Mingjue had not come to see him.

He nodded, answering for Jiang Ziyu, "Yes, my wife. This is Uncle."

"Hello, Uncle," Jiang Ziyu greeted him politely.

Di Jiancheng nodded kindly and glanced at the short Qianqian between them. He crouched down and reached out to touch Qianqian's cheek.

For some reason, Qianqian seemed very fearful of his gaze and kept retreating.

Instinctively blocking her, Jiang Ziyu felt a sense of repulsion looking at Di Jiancheng's hypocritical face.

Di Mingjue smiled and held Jiang Ziyu's tense arm, "Uncle, the child is shy. Please don't mind."

He withdrew his hand, and Di Jiancheng's look of disgust flickered across his face before a kindly expression returned. "Why would I mind? She was this small when I left, and now she's so tall. Old age really makes the younger generation grow up so quickly."

He gestured with his hands across his chest as he mused.

Di Mingjue made pleasant conversation, laughing, "Uncle, you're not old at all, you're still young."

"You rascal, trying to amuse me," Di Jiancheng said, patting his shoulder. His gaze fell upon Di Mingjue's legs, covered by a blanket.

Noticing the intensity of the gaze, Di Mingjue proactively removed the blanket.

"What is this?"

"The lingering effects of the car accident years ago."

Upon learning that he could no longer walk normally, Di Jiancheng's ambitions were rekindled.

In this state, he still wanted to hold onto his position as the Di family patriarch?

"Alright, let's all go inside!" the old lady urged.

Entering the front hall, Jiang Ziyu took the opportunity to take Qianqian upstairs.

She had seen enough of this false familial affection and did not wish to pretend to be part of it.

Back in the room, she thought of Qianqian's fear in front of Di Jiancheng and became curious.

"Qianqian, have you met that uncle before?"

Qianqian shook her head.

Could it be that the man was so insincere that even a child didn't want to be close to him?

As Jiang Ziyu pondered, the door to the room opened from the outside.

"Why did you come up too?" Jiang Ziyu asked curiously.

Hearing her question, Di Mingjue teased, "What do you mean 'too'?"

Seeing him pick at her words, Jiang Ziyu rolled her eyes at him. "Be serious, I have something to tell you."

Di Mingjue stopped speaking, implicitly gesturing for her to continue.

"Don't you find your uncle very strange?" Jiang Ziyu voiced her thoughts. "I could clearly see he was displeased with you, yet he pretended to be very concerned."

Di Mingjue stared intently at Jiang Ziyu. "Anything else?"

"I just feel that his return this time will be detrimental to you."

The Di family was like a mire, with everyone full of schemes. None of them were easy to deal with, and one careless moment could lead to being framed or even losing one's life.

Sensing her concern, Di Mingjue suddenly promised, "Don't worry, I won't let you and Qianqian get hurt. Whatever happens, I will stand in front and bear it all."
