Jiang Ziyu picked up the children from kindergarten. After parking the car in the community’s parking spot, she went upstairs with them, her arms around them.
"Mommy, is Daddy coming today?" Xiao Ran asked.
It had been two or three days since Di Mingjue had last appeared. Although they couldn't see Di Mingjue, Xiao Ran eagerly hoped for a chance encounter with him through the crack of a door or in an elevator.
Among the three children, she was the only one who hadn't had a one-on-one time with Di Mingjue.
Jiang Ziyu thought for a moment before replying, "Not for the time being. The company has been very busy lately, and he's swamped with work, so he doesn't have time to come over."
As soon as she finished speaking, Yuze tugged hard at Jiang Ziyu's arm, "Mommy, Daddy!"
His exclamation made Xiao Ran look over with surprise.
Di Mingjue had already entered the apartment building and hadn't noticed the four of them approaching.
Jiang Ziyu never expected Di Mingjue to be here. After some thought, she took the three children to a pavilion in the community to sit down.
"Mommy, why aren't we going over?" Xiao Ran pressed.
Yuze glanced at Jiang Ziyu, who was constantly observing the entrance of the apartment building, and pulled Xiao Ran, preventing him from asking further questions.
Xiao Ran was unhappy. He shook Yuze's arm off and continued to ask, "Daddy didn't even see us, so we wouldn't bump into him if we went over."
Most importantly, he could follow behind and observe his back. Perhaps when he was getting into the elevator, he could even help push the door for him.
Seeing Xiao Ran pouting, Jiang Ziyu pulled him closer.
"It's not time yet," Jiang Ziyu said, stroking his hair and gently coaxing him. "Once things settle down, Mommy will let you spend some time with Daddy."
Xiao Ran, who had been looking down, suddenly lifted his head. "Really?"
Jiang Ziyu nodded and made a promise.
She wasn't sure what would happen next.
After waiting for about ten minutes, the housekeeper who was responsible for taking care of Yuze and Xiao Ran came out of the apartment building.
Jiang Ziyu handed them over to the housekeeper and went upstairs with Qianqian first.
At the door, Di Mingjue was holding his phone, about to call her.
"Why are you here?" Jiang Ziyu asked, taking out her keys from her bag.
Qianqian let go of her hand and stood beside Di Mingjue. Holding his large palm with her small hand, she took out her artwork from her schoolbag.
"My Father," Di Mingjue read the title. Looking at the figures, they bore a six-tenths resemblance to him. After looking, he pulled Qianqian into his arms. "Our Qianqian is so amazing, you can be a painter in the future."
Jiang Ziyu, who had just opened the door, glanced at the content. The handwriting was clearly Xiao Ran's. It was evident that Xiao Ran had drawn the picture, and the two children had switched them to let Di Mingjue see.
Before, she had always thought Xiao Ran was very lively and cheerful, but she had never realized that he yearned for Di Mingjue's companionship more than anyone else.
If possible, could they have a meal together? Jiang Ziyu felt a pang of sympathy.
However, she didn't dare to try easily.
"Come in," Jiang Ziyu said.
Di Mingjue held Qianqian on his lap, and they entered the house in the wheelchair.
"Are you staying tonight?" Jiang Ziyu asked as she closed the door, taking out shoes from the shoe cabinet to change for Qianqian.
She bent down from beside the shoe cabinet and stood up, looking at Di Mingjue, who was slow to answer.
"Not welcome?" Di Mingjue retorted.
Jiang Ziyu avoided his gaze and replied perfunctorily, "No. If you're staying overnight, I'll prepare the guest room."
"No need to prepare the guest room, I'm sleeping with you all tonight."
Jiang Ziyu, who was drinking water, heard Di Mingjue's words and couldn't swallow the water in time, sputtering it out.
"Cough, cough!" She covered her mouth and coughed continuously.
