Shivering, Jiang Ziyu blushed from the teasing. Angrily, she pushed his chest and hopped off his lap, puffing her cheeks.
Seeing his mocking face, Jiang Ziyu clenched her fists and glared at him, "Weak and useless, what's so comfortable about that!"
His smile froze on his cheeks at the rejection. Gritting his teeth, he pulled Jiang Ziyu back onto his lap and whispered in her ear, "Comfortable or not, you'll find out if you try more."
Feeling the heat below, Jiang Ziyu looked at his triumphant expression in alarm.
"Say it again, comfortable?" Di Mingjue lifted her waist and pulled her closer.
Their chests pressed together seamlessly. Jiang Ziyu's lower back was held firmly, forcing her to lean against Di Mingjue.
From a corner, Qianqian secretly took out her tablet. After fiddling with it for a while, she held it up, aiming the camera at them.
*Click!*
The loud shutter sound made Jiang Ziyu and Di Mingjue turn to her simultaneously.
Her face was half-hidden by the tablet, Qianqian's eyes curved like crescent moons.
"Let me down quickly!" Jiang Ziyu beat his shoulder hard.
Di Mingjue didn't loosen his grip. Instead, he wrapped his arms around her, pressing her cheek against his shoulder. "Qianqian, come here."
Qianqian, holding the tablet, stood in front of them meekly.
"Let Daddy admire your photography skills." Di Mingjue extended his hand, demanding it.
Jiang Ziyu curled up and lowered her head. She seized the opportunity to slip away. Fearing she'd be caught again, she turned and walked far away.
The tablet displayed the photo. Di Mingjue zoomed in, stopping at Jiang Ziyu's cheek.
The camera's beauty filter had significantly lightened the freckles on Jiang Ziyu's face. A sense of familiarity washed over him, and the face of the woman from years ago flashed in his mind.
Di Mingjue turned back. Jiang Ziyu was standing by the window, holding her phone.
Sunlight hit her face, her profile instantly conjuring memories of the past.
Did she have a connection to the woman from back then?
The question lingered in Di Mingjue's mind.
"Qianqian," Jiang Ziyu called out, turning around. Her gaze darted away quickly when she met Di Mingjue's eyes. Deliberately ignoring him, she walked to Qianqian. "Let's go wash our hands, dinner will be soon."
"Together," Di Mingjue added, following closely.
The three went downstairs. Outside, it had started raining at some point. Servants in the courtyard were busy covering the old lady's plants, while those in the kitchen bustled around the stove preparing dinner.
In the wind and rain, a vibrant figure strode in.
Jiang Ziyu saw the figure running in from the door through the hazy window.
Zhao Yanxia entered, followed closely by Di Dongsheng.
The two were pulling and tugging in the living room, completely oblivious to Jiang Ziyu on the sofa.
"I'm going to tell the old lady, you've gone too far," Zhao Yanxia flung Di Dongsheng's hand away and rushed upstairs.
Di Dongsheng pulled her arm forcefully from behind her. "Do you know the consequences of saying that?"
"You don't care about me and the children, so why should I care? What's wrong with going abroad? At least no one will ruin my family." Zhao Yanxia, ignoring his tugging, ran upstairs desperately.
Her high heels clattered on the stairs.
Watching her disappear around the corner of the stairs, Di Dongsheng rubbed his forehead and turned around. Peeking through his fingers, he looked at the three on the sofa with slight surprise.
His mind sifted through the information. Needless to say, they had all seen it. There was no point in pretending. He walked towards the sofa.
Not long after, Zhao Yanxia came downstairs, looking wronged, supporting the old lady.
"So you're back?" The old lady's first words to Di Dongsheng were a teasing remark.
After the scandal broke, the person involved, instead of trying to resolve it, had hidden, waiting for others to clean up his mess.
