Chapter 121 Family Banquet

After much comforting, Yuze’s inner unease only subsided on the surface.

Jiang Ziyu felt heartbroken, as she couldn't transfer Yuze’s nervousness to herself.

She crouched down, touched Yuze's knees, tilted her head up, and said gently, "Mommy knows what you're worried about, but you trust Mommy. Even if it's discovered that you're not Qianqian, Mom still has ways to solve any problems that arise. I will protect you, protect Xiao Ran and Qianqian."

Yuze looked at her, forcing himself to let go of his unease.

Emerging from the room, Jiang Ziyu realized that continuing like this would cause problems. Even if Di Mingjue couldn't discover anything, Yuze’s uncomfortable behavior would pique his curiosity.

It seemed she had to hurry and get him to donate a kidney to Yuze.

...

Di Mingjue’s recovery of his sight was a tremendous joy for the Di residence. The old madam invited all relatives and hosted a grand family banquet at the Di residence.

Taking advantage of the family banquet, Di Dongsheng returned from abroad with his entire family.

Unsure how they got wind of the Di residence’s family banquet, Jiang Wenbin went to great lengths to contact the old madam. Citing his status as Jiang Ziyu’s father, he also received an invitation.

On the day of the banquet, the servants at the Di residence began preparations early. As time passed, the invited guests gradually arrived.

The seemingly warm scene was shattered by Jiang Wenbin’s appearance.

Xu Jingya, dressed to the nines, appeared with Jiang Wenbin’s arm in hers, a radiant smile on her face as she walked into the gaze of the crowd.

“Why did they invite outsiders?”

“Indeed, wasn’t it a family banquet?”

The Di family members whispered amongst themselves.

With no one coming forward to greet them, Jiang Wenbin awkwardly accepted their strange glances.

Xu Jingya had experienced these cold stares too often to care. She let go of Jiang Wenbin’s arm and enthusiastically greeted Jiang Ziyu in the distance.

Jiang Ziyu turned, her gaze turning cold.

“Why is she here?” she said softly.

Di Mingjue, following her gaze, saw Xu Jingya, who seemed out of place.

The day after he awoke, Di Mingjue had ordered Shen Lin to investigate the identities of the Jiang family and Jiang Ziyu. As for Xu Jingya’s identity, he knew a little.

“Let’s go over,” Di Mingjue nudged Jiang Ziyu.

Jiang Ziyu walked behind him, pushing his wheelchair towards Jiang Wenbin.

“My, what’s with your face?” Xu Jingya shouted loudly, ostentatiously pointing at the red spots on Jiang Ziyu’s face.

Her clamor drew the attention of the Di family members, who had otherwise been ignoring her, towards her face.

Jiang Wenbin put on a facade of a good father and stepped forward solicitously, asking, “What happened?”

“You’re concerned about me?” Jiang Ziyu feigned curiosity.

These words made Jiang Wenbin visibly awkward, and he stammered, unable to answer.

“Of course, your dad cares about you. Ever since you married Mingjue, he’s thought of you every day. He wanted you to visit him, but was afraid you were too busy or it was inconvenient,” Xu Jingya interjected.

Her words implied that Jiang Ziyu was unfilial and expressed their fictitious concern.

Jiang Ziyu smiled and stared coldly at Jiang Wenbin, “Is that so? I thought with Jiang Feifei around, you wouldn’t think of me, your married daughter. After all, it’s not like I just left the Jiang family recently. When I was abroad, you never called or checked on me.”

Unexpectedly, Jiang Ziyu brought up the past. Xu Jingya’s face turned pale, and she looked embarrassedly at the Di family members behind them who were watching the spectacle.

“Ziyu, what is your attitude!” Jiang Wenbin couldn’t take it anymore and scolded her.

Seeing his true colors revealed, Jiang Ziyu chuckled coldly, “Am I not speaking the truth?”

The conversation turned sharp, and Jiang Ziyu became like a prickly hedgehog, constantly on guard.

“Our in-laws have arrived.”

The old madam’s arrival somewhat eased the frigid atmosphere.

Jiang Wenbin ignored Jiang Ziyu and politely responded to the old madam.
