His gaze remained fixed on Di Ruihe, who raised his head with a troubled expression, his clenched fists resting uneasily by the table. "I want to work at Di Jue Group."
When Di Dongsheng was the head of the Di family, although he hadn't joined the company, he had profited considerably and saw no need to seek a position there.
Things were different now. Di Mingjue operated without regard for family ties, and his previous dealings were no longer viable. He could only proceed if he joined the company and gained some authority.
"Just this matter?" the old woman asked doubtfully.
Di Ruihe nodded resolutely in response.
The old woman stared at him, then let out a chuckle. "You rascal, wanting to join the company is a good thing. You can even help your cousin out and share some of his workload."
"I told you Grandma would agree. It was just you who was too afraid to speak, making yourself unable to eat or sleep well, and I worried along with you," Wu Xuerou praised the old woman by his side, turning a simple matter into something more significant.
Di Ruihe's tense expression eased. He scratched the back of his head like a simpleton.
Just as the atmosphere became lively, Di Mingjue returned.
With Jiang Ziyu's assistance, he came to the dining table and sat down.
"Mingjue, you're back just in time. We were just discussing Ruihe joining the company to help you."
"Join the company?"
Di Mingjue's gaze settled on Di Ruihe.
Feeling guilty, Di Ruihe, despite knowing he couldn't see, still didn't dare to meet his gaze.
Seeing his silence, Wu Xuerou felt a surge of disdain. She truly was blind to marry such a timid man.
Composing herself, she said with a smile, "Yes, Ruihe sees how hard his cousin works and wants to help share the burden."
The old woman glanced at Wu Xuerou.
After hearing her words to Jiang Ziyu earlier that day, the old woman's impression of her had changed. Her usual timid demeanor seemed to be a facade; this articulate person was her true self.
Di Mingjue's gaze shifted towards Wu Xuerou as she spoke. "Share the burden?"
"Isn't my cousin unhappy?" Wu Xuerou lowered her eyes and her mouth drooped, making her look as though she had been wronged.
Di Mingjue couldn't see clearly, but the hazy shadows allowed him to perceive Wu Xuerou's current state.
"I'm not unhappy. Since Ruihe wants to help me at the company, how could I refuse? However, the company doesn't currently lack managers. Is Ruihe willing to start from the bottom?" Di Mingjue asked sincerely.
Everyone in the Di mansion was ambitious and aspired to the position of family head. Only Ruihe remained oblivious to the outside world and was not interested in the position. Coupled with his understanding of his uncompetitive nature, he had not obstructed Di Ruihe's decision to join the company.
A long moment passed after his words, but Di Ruihe remained silent. Wu Xuerou's expression grew even more displeased.
"Mingjue, please eat something first. We can discuss other matters after the meal. You need to maintain your strength at all times so your body can recover faster," Jiang Ziyu intervened, skillfully diverting the conversation.
The old woman echoed her words, and the matter of joining the company was put aside.
After the meal, Jiang Ziyu, using acupuncture as an excuse, once again refused to let Di Ruihe and Di Mingjue negotiate company positions.
Once they returned to their room, Jiang Ziyu immediately released Di Mingjue's hand. Shedding her affectionate guise, she transformed into his doctor.
"Why did you obstruct them?" Di Mingjue asked directly.
For what other reason, if not for his own good.
Jiang Ziyu took out a needle bag from the drawer, untied the string, and picked out several silver needles, placing them in a cup filled with alcohol.
"Although this might sound like meddling, you should be more careful. Some people are good at pretending; what you see might not be the truth."
"What do you know?"
Di Mingjue stood up from his chair and walked directly behind Jiang Ziyu.
