Though Third Uncle’s words were sharp, he couldn't win against the old lady.
He stormed off from the Di residence in a huff, slamming his hand on the table after spewing angry words.
Before leaving, he shot Jiang Ziyu another stern look, a cold huff escaping him.
As soon as he left, the old lady dropped her pretense.
“Tell me, what exactly is going on!”
Faced with the old lady’s interrogation, Di Dongsheng’s eyes darted around rapidly.
“Grandma, I’m just unwilling. For all the years cousin lay in the hospital bed, the company was managed by me. Now that he’s awake, the company has returned to his hands. This is one thing, but cousin deliberately ignores my suggestions, even though he knows how invested I am in the company. I’ve also been following the Dongjiao project for a long time.”
Having voiced his inner grievances, Di Dongsheng’s face was etched with hurt.
The anger in his chest subsided with these few words. The old lady sighed deeply and looked at her disappointing grandson, saying, “You can talk to me if something is bothering you. Why involve outsiders in family matters? Your cousin isn’t an unreasonable person. If he understood your thoughts, he wouldn’t refuse you.”
Wouldn’t refuse?
Di Dongsheng found it laughable.
He outwardly complied with the old lady’s words, admitting his fault, “I understand, Grandma. I will try to communicate with cousin.”
“Alright, I’m tired. Let this matter rest. I don’t wish for a repeat,” the old lady said, raising her hand as the butler next to her helped her up from the chair.
Di Dongsheng watched her ascend the stairs and then noticed Jiang Ziyu, who had been observing the entire scene. Seeing her face covered in red acne, he felt a pang of disgust. He shook his arm and left the living room.
When Zhao Yanxia arrived from the backyard, Di Dongsheng had already departed. She looked at Jiang Ziyu in the living room and asked sarcastically, “You’ve been here all along?”
She had been leisurely enjoying her afternoon tea in the backyard when she heard a servant mention that Di Dongsheng had brought his Third Uncle back, leading to a dispute with the old lady. She had then rushed over in a panic.
To her dismay, the person she wished to see was absent, while the one she wished to avoid was clinging to her like a piece of flypaper.
Jiang Ziyu ignored her words and turned to go upstairs.
People who are impolite should be met with impoliteness.
Zhao Yanxia downstairs stamped her foot and cursed angrily.
Back in her room, Jiang Ziyu took out her laptop and placed it on the bed. She sat cross-legged on the carpet and searched for news about the Dongjiao project.
Focused on her computer, time slipped by unnoticed until the afternoon.
Her phone alarm rang, and Jiang Ziyu finally remembered it was time to pick up Yuze from kindergarten.
She closed the laptop, cleared her browsing history, changed into her jacket, and drove to the kindergarten.
The entrance to the kindergarten was already crowded with parents. Jiang Ziyu struggled to find a parking space and hurried to the entrance.
The children were lined up in an orderly fashion inside, with parents picking up their children one by one.
Jiang Ziyu stood to the side, a smile on her face as she watched the children wave to her.
“That person looks like Di Mingjue, the CEO of Di Jue Group.”
“It does seem like him. Is he here to pick up a child?”
“That’s impossible. He’s so wealthy; how could his child be in the same kindergarten as the children of us ordinary white-collar workers?”
During the lull in picking up children, the parents began to gossip upon seeing Di Mingjue, who shouldn't have been there.
Jiang Ziyu looked back at Di Mingjue, seated in a wheelchair in front of the car, and felt a headache coming on.
He truly was the center of attention wherever he went!
Jiang Ziyu took out her phone and dialed Di Mingjue’s number.
“Don’t come here. I don’t want Yuze to be ostracized again.”
Di Mingjue frowned, displeased with Jiang Ziyu’s words.
He was Yuze’s father; why shouldn’t others know? Did she intend to twist the truth, making him, the biological father, appear fake and herself, the fake, appear real?
As the thought crossed his mind, Di Mingjue ordered Shen Lin to push him over.
