"You're kidnapping me, I'm calling the police!" the man shouted as soon as he opened his mouth.
Seeing Di Mingjue's displeasure in the video, Shen Lin immediately stuffed the cloth back into the man's mouth, reducing him to muffled groans again.
"Mr. Di, should we hand this person over to the police station?" Shen Lin asked.
Di Mingjue looked at the man in the video who was fearless. "Keep an eye on him. I'll interrogate him myself when I get back!"
After hanging up the phone, the emergency room door was pushed open from the inside.
A nurse wheeled Ye Ziyu out. She had a bandage wrapped around her forehead.
"Ziyu?" Di Mingjue walked forward and called out softly.
Ye Ziyu was still unconscious.
The doctor beside her explained her condition, "The patient is temporarily stable. She's only in a brief coma. We'll observe her after she wakes up. If there are no complications, she can be discharged."
Back in the ward, Di Mingjue quietly guarded Ye Ziyu's bedside. Xingxing watched from afar, feeling that the car accident was his fault.
If he hadn't insisted on leaving the hospital and returning to the Ye residence, they wouldn't have encountered the car accident. The guilt weighed heavily on Xingxing, casting a shadow over him.
"She's awake!" Di Mingjue felt Ye Ziyu's hand move and looked at her excitedly as she opened her eyes.
Her vision was filled with white. Ye Ziyu covered her head with her hand.
"Does your head hurt?" Di Mingjue pressed the call button beside him. "The doctor will be here soon. Just bear with it a little longer."
It seemed they had completed the discharge procedures and were heading back to the Ye residence when they were pursued by a car. In the process of evading, the two vehicles collided.
Recalling the events, Ye Ziyu opened her eyes and asked, "Where is Xingxing? How is he?"
Di Mingjue turned his head and saw Xingxing standing by the door like a child who had made a mistake. He had been so worried about Ye Ziyu that he had forgotten about him.
Ye Ziyu pushed herself up, trying to sit up in bed.
"Xingxing, come here!" she beckoned, reaching out her hand.
Xingxing stood rooted to the spot, too timid to come closer.
"Come here!" Di Mingjue urged.
Ye Ziyu endured the throbbing pain in her head, forcing a smile.
Xingxing slowly walked over and stood by the bed, lowering his head. "I'm sorry."
The sudden apology caused Ye Ziyu and Di Mingjue to exchange glances.
"Why are you apologizing?" Ye Ziyu asked, touching his hand, confused.
Xingxing's eyes welled up with tears as he looked guiltily at the bandage on her forehead. "If I hadn't insisted on going back, the car accident wouldn't have happened, and you wouldn't have gotten hurt protecting me."
So, she was injured because of him!
Ye Ziyu looked at Xingxing with relief, tenderly wiping the tears from his eyes. "If we had known beforehand, it wouldn't have been an accident. Don't blame yourself; this has nothing to do with you."
Xingxing took her words as mere comfort, his guilt not lessening.
The doctor entered from outside, and Di Mingjue and Xingxing were both moved aside.
After a brief examination, the doctor confirmed Ye Ziyu had no serious injuries, only superficial ones.
After the doctor left, Ye Ziyu touched the bandage on her head and looked at the bruises on the back of her hand.
"I think I can be discharged," she said.
As soon as she spoke, Di Mingjue exclaimed, "No! You must stay for observation tonight!"
Although the car accident wasn't severe, Di Mingjue was very worried she might have internal injuries. To be absolutely safe, he insisted on being cautious.
Silenced by Di Mingjue's outburst, Ye Ziyu looked at his worried eyes and didn't dare to argue further. She glanced at Xingxing; both of them looked like children who had done something wrong.
"Mingjue, have they found out who ordered the attack?" Ye Ziyu changed the subject.
"I told Shen Lin to bring the person back to the company. I haven't had time to interrogate him yet if he doesn't confess," Di Mingjue replied.
Upon hearing this, Ye Ziyu immediately said, "You go and be busy. Xingxing and I will be fine here."
