Xiao Ran secretly glanced back, noting the position of Xing Xing, and slipped the Lego in his hand to Yu Ze. "You go."
Yu Ze was calmer than the others, his personality most similar to Xing Xing. It was said that people with similar personalities communicated more easily, so Xiao Ran believed Yu Ze had a higher chance of success.
But Yu Ze had never communicated with Xing Xing before. Would he agree if invited so rashly?
"Brother Yu Ze, hurry, he's about to leave."
"Brother, don't worry. If he doesn't agree, you can come back another time. If you ask more often, he'll eventually agree," Xiao Ran said.
Listening to their urgings and reassurances, Yu Ze stood up. As he walked towards Xing Xing, he mentally prepared how to begin.
There was only one step between them when Xing Xing turned and left.
Before Yu Ze could even open his mouth, the person was gone. He stared in the direction Xing Xing had left, then turned back dejectedly to look at Xiao Ran and Qian Qian.
They had considered many possibilities, but none of them included Yu Ze not getting a chance to speak.
"Are we monsters?" Xiao Ran asked, looking dejected.
In school, classmates vied to be his friend, and even strangers on the street would praise him. Why was Xing Xing so resistant to him?
Yu Ze returned to his original spot and sat down, placing the Lego back down with a sigh. "Do you think our constant desire to befriend him might be bothering him?"
After all, everyone had their own preferences. Forcing one's own ideas onto someone else would only cause them distress and unhappiness.
Once the thought was voiced, all three fell into a pensive silence.
It was like how they wanted to be friends with Xing Xing; the more he refused, the more they wanted to find a way to connect with him. But what about the reverse? If Xing Xing didn't want it, would their constant disturbance make him even more unwilling?
Three sighs echoed in the room. Ye Ziyu, who had just entered, was drawn by the sound.
"What's wrong? You all look so glum?" Ye Ziyu changed her shoes and came over to the children.
Qian Qian immediately burrowed into Ye Ziyu's embrace. "We wanted to invite Xing Xing over to play Lego, but before Brother Yu Ze could even say anything, Xing Xing left."
She finished with a pout, as if she had suffered a great injustice.
Ye Ziyu glanced around the living room. "Where is Xing Xing?"
"In the back garden," Yu Ze replied. "He seems to be practicing his martial arts again."
After a few instructions, Ye Ziyu got up and headed to the back garden.
The children conferred amongst themselves and decided to follow.
Di Mingjue returned home and, seeing the empty living room, mistakenly assumed Ye Ziyu had indeed gone to dinner with Gu Xiuyu.
Just as he was about to call her, he heard the voices of the children and Ye Ziyu drifting from the back garden.
She was home?
Taking out his phone, he hurried to the back garden. Indeed, Ye Ziyu was there.
Hearing the commotion, Ye Ziyu turned around. Her gaze met Di Mingjue's.
Di Mingjue smiled helplessly. He had almost gone crazy moments ago. Thankfully, it was all his overthinking.
Ye Ziyu withdrew her gaze and took out her phone to record a video of Xing Xing practicing. She treated him like her own child, wanting to capture his brilliant moments.
With a final powerful swing, the children applauded without reservation.
"So amazing!" Qian Qian shrieked like a little fan.
Xing Xing stood in the center, unsure of what to do. This was the first time he had so many people watching him while he practiced, applauding and taking pictures.
But he had to obey Ye Shaoting's instructions and avoid any contact with them, lest they discover his secret.
Ye Ziyu walked over to Xing Xing with her phone and showed him the content she had just captured. "I was mesmerized just now. You are truly incredible!"
