"Hello, who are you looking for?" the woman asked, standing up from her chair as Ye Ziyu walked in.
Ye Ziyu glanced around, her gaze falling on the display on the desk.
[Preschool Class 1]
"I'm Qianqian, Yuze, and Xiaoran's mother," Ye Ziyu introduced herself.
The teacher’s mind immediately connected the face to the name. "Ah, you're the mother of three children. I'm their homeroom teacher, Xu Yan." xxs1
"Hello, Teacher Chen. I'd like to inquire about the school's lunch and after-meal fruit situation," Ye Ziyu said, taking a seat opposite Xu Yan.
Xu Yan nodded, recalling the children's situation from two days ago. "I had a temporary leave and asked another teacher to cover for me. Coincidentally, Qianqian and Yuze had headaches and were taken to the hospital."
The teacher she had met at the hospital the day before was indeed not the one in front of her now.
Ye Ziyu replied, "Yes, they had stomachaches the day before yesterday, so they ate food from home for lunch yesterday. I've come because I wanted to inquire about the after-meal fruit provided by the school."
"Fruit?" Xu Yan thought back to what happened after lunch the previous day. "Did they have stomachaches again after they returned home?"
"It wasn't them, it was the uncle who picked them up," Ye Ziyu said, pulling out the examination report from the hospital that morning. "They didn't eat the fruit the school provided yesterday, but brought it back for the uncle who picked them up. After eating the fruit they brought back last night, their uncle experienced stomachaches and vomiting. He was diagnosed with poisoning at the hospital. Here is the examination report; Teacher Chen can take a look."
The homeroom teacher spent the most time with the children. To ascertain whether the school-bought fruit was problematic or if the fruit distributed to the children had been tampered with, it was crucial to inform the homeroom teacher about the poisoning incident promptly.
Xu Yan looked at the examination report with disbelief. The data was clearly written, including the time of treatment and the name of the attending physician at the bottom. After confirming the report was not fabricated, she quickly said, "Qianqian's mother, there must be a misunderstanding. Our school is very strict with the procurement of food and drinks for the children. The food prepared adheres to health standards regarding cooking temperatures and other aspects."
"Teacher Chen, please don't be nervous. I believe what you've said. If there was a problem with the school, it wouldn't just be my children who were affected; other children wouldn't have been spared either," Ye Ziyu said.
The more Xu Yan listened, the more confused she became. If it wasn't the school's problem, then whose problem was it?
Their gazes met, and Ye Ziyu's nod confirmed the thought that had arisen in Xu Yan's mind. Covering her mouth, Xu Yan realized this was the first time she had encountered such a situation in her years of teaching.
Accompanied by Xu Yan, Ye Ziyu went to the school cafeteria.
As students began their classes, the cafeteria staff started preparing the students' lunch.
Through a glass partition, the staff inside were all dressed in chef's uniforms, wearing hats and masks, and even gloves that came into contact with food.
The person in charge of the kitchen rushed out sternly upon seeing Ye Ziyu. "You haven't seen the sign at the kitchen entrance. Unauthorized personnel are not allowed in."
If outsiders can't get in, does that mean it's internal personnel?
While Xu Yan was explaining to the manager, Ye Ziyu watched the busy staff inside through the glass window.
Perhaps it was the first time an outsider had entered, but the people inside continued their work while curiously observing Ye Ziyu.
After learning about the situation from Xu Yan, the manager's attitude softened, and he politely said to Ye Ziyu, "Hello, I am the person in charge here. I will go and get our recent procurement lists for you."
"There's no need," Ye Ziyu said, stopping him. "I'd like to know if you've hired any new employees recently."
