"There are a few issues with the proposal," Gu Xiuyu explained.
Ye Ziyu was in charge of project matters. Wasn't she supposed to be the one they approached with problems? Or had the two of them quarreled?
The suspicion in his heart made Ye Shaoting find the whole situation quite amusing.
He brewed a cup of coffee and placed it in front of Gu Xiuyu. "Did you contact Ziyu when you arrived, Mr. Gu?"
"Yes, she'll be here shortly." Gu Xiuyu picked up the coffee cup, swirling the liquid inside. With a slight shake, the liquid spilled outwards.
The scalding coffee flowed down the inside of his palm and onto his shirt cuff. Gu Xiuyu sighed and placed the coffee cup on the table with a helpless gesture.
Ye Shaoting quickly grabbed a tissue from the coffee table and handed it to Gu Xiuyu with concern. "Are you alright, Mr. Gu?"
The coffee had already soaked into the fabric of his shirt, and even after wiping, a faint brown stain remained.
The mark on his clothes was like the indelible imprint left in his heart when he saw Ye Ziyu and Di Mingjue happy together.
Putting down the tissue, Gu Xiuyu rolled up his soiled sleeve. "It's a minor issue, I'm fine."
"Do you need me to have my assistant fetch a shirt for you, Mr. Gu?" Ye Shaoting asked.
The stain on his hand was just a small spot. Replacing the shirt wouldn't erase the incident as if it had never happened.
"No, thank you," Gu Xiuyu replied.
As Ye Shaoting was about to offer again, Ye Ziyu opened the door and walked in. Several pairs of eyes turned towards her simultaneously. Subconsciously, she even glanced behind herself.
"You've arrived at a perfect time, Ziyu. Mr. Gu has some project issues to discuss with you," Ye Shaoting said.
Ye Ziyu walked in. "Yes, I just ran into Mr. Gu at the company entrance."
"Is that so?" Ye Shaoting looked at Gu Xiuyu.
If they had met downstairs, why didn't they come together? Or was someone else accompanying him?
Just as the suspicion began to form in his mind, Ye Chenhan knocked and pushed open the door from the outside.
Along with Di Mingjue, the two of them made a sudden and intrusive appearance in Ye Shaoting's office.
Seeing Di Mingjue in the office, Ye Shaoting finally understood why Gu Xiuyu looked so dejected.
"Chenhan, what is it?" Ye Shaoting asked, his gaze fixed on Di Mingjue.
Ye Chenhan didn't want to come, but Di Mingjue had threatened him. He stammered a few words, and Di Mingjue pushed him from behind. "I'm fine, I just wanted to say a few words to Ziyu."
His words were nonsensical, so it was far from fine!
Ye Shaoting, with his sharp eyes, noticed Di Mingjue's half-raised hand and coldly reprimanded, "We can talk later. Mr. Gu is waiting to discuss the project proposal with Ziyu."
Abruptly being scolded, Ye Chenhan looked pleadingly at Di Mingjue behind him. He was the one who wanted to come back; shouldn't he have a reason?
Seeing Ye Chenhan blinking at him continuously, Di Mingjue remained impassive.
"Chenhan!" Ye Shaoting urged.

Ye Chenhan turned and shook his head at Di Mingjue. His foot was already moving out when Di Mingjue, uncharacteristically, spoke.
"Ziyu, call me when you're done. The children and I will wait for you to have lunch together."
"Okay."
After receiving Ye Ziyu's reply, Di Mingjue turned and left with satisfaction.
They stood in the hallway outside the office. Ye Chenhan looked at Di Mingjue in disbelief. "You made me go in with you just to say we'll have lunch together?"
"Yes, is there anything else?" Di Mingjue retorted with a snort.
Every time Gu Xiuyu came to the Ye Corporation, he would use the excuse of discussing work to invite her to lunch. This time, he had gotten there first; let's see if he would still make the invitation.
