Thanks to Yu Ze's advance notice, the cafeteria staff member, Hong Jie, specially took care of Qian Qian. She only served a small portion of carrots, which she loved, estimating it would be gone in two big bites.
Qian Qian was delighted and thanked the cafeteria staff member sweetly.
With her sweet appearance and soft, adorable voice, everyone couldn't help but like her. Her few kind words kept a smile on the staff member's face until her work was done.
After Xiao Ran finished serving their food, the three of them found a table and sat down.
"Are those three a family?"
The cafeteria staff member, whom Qian Qian had just thanked, overheard her colleague's question next to her. She glanced back, and seeing the unfamiliar faces, she couldn't help but ask, "Are you new?"
"Mhm, I came for an interview yesterday and today is my first day of work," Jiang Feifei quickly explained.
"That's why you looked so unfamiliar," the staff member murmured, and with many more children waiting for them to serve food, she didn't engage in further conversation or answer Jiang Feifei's earlier question.
After work was done, Jiang Feifei stuck close to the cafeteria staff member.
"Sister, I noticed you know many students, so you must have worked here for many years, right?"
"Ten years."
"No wonder."
Jiang Feifei did some quick calculations, guessing that the woman in front of her knew the situation of those three children very well.
She took out a luxury item she had prepared from her pocket and, while no one was paying attention, pressed it into the staff member's hand. "Sister, I'm new here. I hope you can take good care of me in the future."
Feeling the heavy gold, the staff member nervously returned the item. "This is not appropriate."
"Please accept it. I prepared it specifically. Consider it tuition for my apprenticeship," Jiang Feifei said, holding the woman's arm and guiding her to put the gold into her pocket.
No one in the world is immune to greed. The staff member, seeing how resourceful Jiang Feifei was as a newcomer, felt quite pleased with her.
"If you don't mind, you can call me Sister Hong from now on. Feel free to ask me anything you don't understand about work."
"Okay, Sister Hong."
After a piece of gold secured Sister Hong's favor, Jiang Feifei followed her to wash the trays clean and then began her lunch.
The cafeteria staff and students ate the same food and dined in the same cafeteria.
Jiang Feifei looked at the three children by the window. She then glanced at Sister Hong, who was eating diligently.
"Sister Hong, you haven't answered my question yet."
"What question?"
Sister Hong took a sip of water, swallowing the food in her mouth.
"Those three children over there, are they a family? I saw them chatting and laughing with you just now, they seemed very familiar," Jiang Feifei said.
Following her pointed finger, Sister Hong took a look. "You mean them? They are a family. The three children are beautiful and polite, and all the teachers here like them."
"Is that so? I thought you knew them from a friend," Jiang Feifei rambled.
Her words made Sister Hong burst into laughter. "With my appearance, how could I possibly know them? It's just that they like to stand in my line when we get food."
Another reason was that Sister Hong already knew what they liked and disliked. So, when serving them food, she would reduce the amount of disliked food based on their preferences.
She didn't tell Jiang Feifei about this, as she believed in "teaching an apprentice to starve the master." She relied on the children's affection for her, which had kept her employed at the school.
Jiang Feifei's eyes were fixed on Yu Ze and the others.
"Do you know them?" Sister Hong asked in return.
Jiang Feifei was taken aback and quickly withdrew her gaze, explaining, "No, I don't. I just found their appearances so pleasing that I couldn't help but inquire a little."
No one dislikes beautiful things, whether they are people or objects.
