"Mr. Gu, you should have notified me in advance so I could come down to greet you," Ye Shaoting said, rushing to finish his meeting before bowing and ushering the elder Gu into his office.
Elder Gu's status was on par with his father's, and Ye Shaoting dared not show any disrespect.
Upon entering the office, Ye Shaoting personally brewed tea. After a flurry of activity, he noticed Elder Gu's searching gaze.
"Elder Gu, are you personally handling the cooperation matters now?" Ye Shaoting asked.
A few days prior, Gu's company had sent a representative who briefly relayed that Gu Xiuyu was no longer in charge of the project.
"Where is Ziyu?" Elder Gu asked.
"Ziyu?" Ye Shaoting repeated, bewildered.
His grand gesture in coming here was specifically to see Ye Ziyu.
Ye Shaoting made a phone call, and within minutes, Ye Ziyu walked over from the adjacent office.
"Ziyu, Elder Gu has something to discuss with you," Ye Shaoting called out, gesturing for her to enter.
Something to discuss?
Ye Ziyu respectfully glanced at Elder Gu. She humbly approached them, awaiting their words.
"Has Xiuyu contacted you recently?" Elder Gu asked directly. Rather than beating around the bush and causing suspicion, he preferred to inquire directly, saving time.
Ye Ziyu looked at Ye Shaoting beside her. The day Ye Chenhan informed her that Gu Xiuyu was no longer the person in charge of Gu's company, she hadn't seen Gu Xiuyu again. The project manager had been replaced by other company employees.
Her hesitant behavior already provided the answer. Elder Gu sighed deeply, bracing his knees as he unsteadily rose from the sofa.
"He called me," Ye Ziyu suddenly said.
Elder Gu stopped, turning to look at her with surprise.
"It was perhaps two days ago. He called to inform me that he was no longer in charge of the project," Ye Ziyu recalled the scene.
"Did he say anything else? Nothing more?"
Faced with Elder Gu's insistent questioning, Ye Ziyu hesitated. His subsequent inquiries were too intimate, and revealing them would only make others suspect their relationship.
After some thought, Ye Ziyu kept it to herself.
The information he received was not useful, but Elder Gu still thanked Ye Ziyu.
"Elder Gu, I'll escort you downstairs," Ye Shaoting said, coming to Elder Gu's side and supporting his trembling arm.
Compared to their last meeting at the banquet, Elder Gu had aged significantly. Could it be related to Gu Xiuyu?
Di Mingjue had his people placed within Gu's company. Upon learning that Elder Gu had personally visited to find Ye Ziyu, he anxiously traveled from Di Jue Group to Ye's company.
Arriving at the lobby downstairs, he encountered Ye Shaoting, who had just seen Elder Gu out.
As the two met, a palpable tension ignited in the air.
"Are you looking for Ziyu?"
"Yes, she's not in the company?"
Ye Shaoting's arm blocked Di Mingjue from taking his phone out of his pocket. "There are a few things I need to remind you of. Ziyu works at the company as a member of the Ye family and as an employee. Whether you are the CEO of Di Jue Group or her husband, your frequent visits to the company to find her are seriously affecting her."
If it's inappropriate as the CEO, why is it inappropriate as her husband?
Di Mingjue's gaze fell on Ye Shaoting's arm. He casually shook it off, feigning confusion as he asked, "Could you repeat that concisely? I don't quite understand."
"As the person in charge of the company, I don't want anyone disrupting the work of the employees," Ye Shaoting declared, puffing out his chest with a firm attitude.
Regardless of Di Mingjue's behavior today, he would not be allowed to casually enter Ye's company as if browsing a market.
In front of the revolving doors, the two men stood their ground, looking at each other with arrogance. The tension radiated outwards, and the surrounding employees acted cautiously, avoiding their sight.
