Shen Lin had been by Di Mingjue’s side for at least five years, if not seven or eight. This was the first time Di Mingjue had told him to pack his bags and leave.
It seemed that article had a significant impact on him.
After hanging up the phone, Di Mingjue spun around in place, the phone still in his hand, with nowhere to vent his anger. The photos in the article were like brands, imprinted on Ye Ziyu’s mind after just one viewing.
He took a deep breath and punched the wall.
Ye Ziyu came out of the room and saw this scene. She gasped in surprise and covered her mouth, seeing the wound on his fist after the impact.
“Why did you come out?” Di Mingjue turned around, looking at Ye Ziyu with a panicked expression.
He was worried that Ye Ziyu would be upset after seeing the article.
“Did something happen at the company?” Ye Ziyu walked forward, clasped his wrist, and looked at the abrasion on his knuckle.
“Nothing happened, Shen Lin’s efficiency is just too low,” Di Mingjue explained.
Upon hearing this, Ye Ziyu looked up and stared into his eyes. She let go of his hand and lectured him, “People make mistakes, and Shen Assistant has always been meticulous in his work. You lost your temper so much over such a small mistake. Doesn’t that chill people’s hearts?”
In Didu, Shen Lin had helped Ye Ziyu quite a bit. Moreover, he had accompanied her to Si Jiucheng, an unfamiliar place, so a slower pace was understandable.
Ye Ziyu pulled Di Mingjue back into the room, treated his wound, and then, holding his phone, commanded him, “Call Shen Assistant now and tell him to take his time.”
Wouldn’t calling expose everything!
Di Mingjue put his phone aside and perfunctorily denied, “He won’t mind.”
“How do you know? You aren’t him,” Ye Ziyu retorted.
The phone was forcefully thrust into his hand; this call had to be made, whether he liked it or not.
Seeing her stubbornness, Di Mingjue feared that constant refusal would make her suspicious.
He dialed the number in front of Ye Ziyu.
“President Di, it hasn’t even been an hour yet.”
As soon as the call connected, Shen Lin’s nervous voice drifted out.
Ye Ziyu patted Di Mingjue’s shoulder, indicating that his actions had startled Shen Lin.
“It’s alright, no rush. Just finish it before closing time this afternoon,” Di Mingjue said under Ye Ziyu’s insistent gaze.
Shen Lin grew increasingly frightened as he listened.
In less than ten minutes, Di Mingjue had changed completely. Was he doing this on purpose? Waiting for him to believe it and then fire him?
Considering this, Shen Lin quickly refused, “President Di, please rest assured, I will definitely complete the task you assigned me within an hour.”
He was being so stubborn!
Di Mingjue gritted his teeth and denied, “You don’t need to. I said before closing time, so it’s before closing time. Don’t mention anything about an hour later to me again!”
As he finished speaking, Ye Ziyu smacked the back of his head.
Today was his unlucky day; everything had been going wrong since he woke up. He was clearly worried about her, yet in the end, he kept getting hit.
Di Mingjue hung up on Shen Lin and flipped over, pinning Ye Ziyu onto the bed.
“I’m very angry. Why are you so concerned about him!”
Ye Ziyu cupped his flustered face, smiling as she soothed him, “Shen Assistant has been by your side longer than I have. When you were framed and unconscious, he never left you. Your relationship has long surpassed ordinary superior-subordinate ties; it has transcended friendship. He is an indispensable best friend for your lifetime. You really shouldn’t have spoken to him like that just now.”
Hearing these words, Di Mingjue belatedly realized that his words had been too harsh.
Just as she said, Shen Lin had always been devotedly by his side. Patting his head, he was filled with regret. He had just been angry at the moment and spoke carelessly.
Seeing him get off her and lie on the side, Ye Ziyu propped herself up on her elbow, leaning on the bed and facing Di Mingjue.
