Chapter 1023 A Gun to the Head

The wind was strong, and once on the yacht, the sea breeze lifted the wedding veil, making walking a challenge.

Gu Xiuyu, seeing Ye Ziyu’s disheveled veil, thoughtfully stepped behind her and bent down to hold up the heavy skirt.

The wedding officiant stood at the front, holding a microphone and looking at them with a serious expression.

"Don't be nervous. We have our people on the yacht."

Ye Ziyu looked at the officiant, who nodded at her as Gu Xiuyu wasn't paying attention. She then glanced to the side, where a man recording with a camera also nodded at her.

The people Gu Xiuyu had arranged for the wedding had been replaced by Shen Lin, who had been waiting in the woods since they landed on the island.

"Are you cold?" Gu Xiuyu stepped forward and took her hand.

Ye Ziyu pretended to adjust her veil, inadvertently pushing his hand away.

Gu Xiuyu’s outstretched hand didn't retract; he slightly lowered himself to hold the veil with her.

"Please, groom, come to me," the officiant said.

Ye Ziyu looked at Gu Xiuyu to her side. Seeing him smile and release her wedding dress as he walked towards the officiant, she turned her head to look at the sea.

"Ziyu!" Gu Xiuyu saw Ye Ziyu pull off the skirt of her wedding dress and run back the way she came. His call was useless. He watched as a group of men in black appeared at the dock.

This was bad!

When he realized what was happening and ran towards Ye Ziyu, the officiant beside him grabbed him. The microphone in his hand had somehow turned into a gun.

With the muzzle pointed at Gu Xiuyu's temple, the officiant warned, "Don't move!"

Gu Xiuyu turned his head, the gun barrel moving to his temple.

"Who are you?"

The man pressed his hands behind his back, forcing him forward.

Ye Ziyu, leaving the yacht in the distance, was now standing beside Di Mingjue. Gu Xiuyu had guessed that the people he’d arranged for the yacht had been replaced by Di Mingjue. He realized that the current situation was due to his own oversight.

"Go change your clothes," Di Mingjue said, taking off his jacket and draping it over Ye Ziyu's shoulders.

Ye Ziyu looked at Gu Xiuyu, who was yelling towards them, and then pulled Di Mingjue's arm, worried. "I'll go with you."

Di Mingjue also didn't want Ye Ziyu to change clothes alone. After a moment's thought, he agreed. The two walked back onto the yacht hand in hand.

The sight of their intertwined fingers pained Gu Xiuyu. This was something he had only dreamed of, yet during their time together, aside from that one impulsive, forceful encounter, he hadn't had any intimate contact with her.

Gu Xiuyu smiled bitterly and looked at Di Mingjue. "I didn't expect you to find this place. I underestimated you."

"It's not that you underestimated me; it's that you were overconfident," Di Mingjue replied.

If he hadn't announced his marriage to Ye Ziyu online, he wouldn't have found clues among the many comments.

Gu Xiuyu lowered his head and let out a cold laugh.

Yes, he had indeed overestimated himself. He wanted to have a good image in front of Ye Ziyu, but he had neglected the fact that her heart was already with Di Mingjue. No matter how good he was, Ye Ziyu wouldn't see it. It was precisely because he had placed his true feelings in the wrong place that he had wasted so many opportunities over the days.

Looking up at Ye Ziyu, who was leaning beside Di Mingjue, he spoke to her, still unwilling to give up, "Ziyu, I was very happy with you these past few days."

"You were happy, but she wasn't," Di Mingjue said mockingly. "Your happiness was selfish, obtained by destroying someone else's family. It was stolen happiness."

The words pierced his ears. Gu Xiuyu shook his arms and retorted, "Shut up! My love for Ziyu is no less than yours. I can even give her what you can't."

His love?

It was so cheap that even if forced upon Ye Ziyu, she wouldn't want it.
