Bending to pick it up, a pair of legs suddenly appeared before her. Her gaze fixed on them, Chen Yaping looked up at Ye Ziyu, who had moved in front of her.
"If you're done measuring, get out. I want to rest!" Ye Ziyu gave the order to leave.
Chen Yaping quickly tidied up the scattered measuring tape and, as she turned, inexplicably felt the urge to look back.
Her gaze passed Ye Ziyu and landed on the curtains on the balcony. She took an extra glance, always feeling as if someone was behind them.
As she was puzzling over it, Ye Ziyu blocked her view.
"What are you looking at?" Ye Ziyu asked.
Chen Yaping couldn't say, nor did she dare to voice her inner thoughts. She shook her head and turned to leave.
The door opened and closed in a matter of seconds.
Staring at the closed door, Chen Yaping frowned and couldn't help but scratch her scalp.
Did she see wrong?
But the reflection looked very much like a person standing inside.
Chen Yaping dared not cause any trouble and forcibly pushed the thought out of her mind.
"Did you drink the milk?" Gu Xiuyu asked, hearing footsteps approaching him as Chen Yaping walked over.
"Madam finished her dinner. She asked me to put the milk on the nightstand after measuring her three measurements." Chen Yaping said, placing the tray she had taken from the doorway in front of Gu Xiuyu.
The bowls and plates were clean, and the food inside was all gone.
Gu Xiuyu was very satisfied and said to Chen Yaping, "Mmm, give me the measurements."
Chen Yaping handed him the paper and pen together.
With a glance, Gu Xiuyu put them into his pocket.
The room.
Ye Ziyu clutched her rapidly beating heart, staring anxiously at the door.
Did she see?
Standing where Chen Yaping had stood, Ye Ziyu mirrored her perspective and looked towards the balcony.
In the light, the curtains indeed cast faint, fleeting reflections.
"Don't think about it. She wouldn't dare speak carelessly," Di Mingjue said, pushing aside the curtains and emerging from behind.
Though he said this, neither of them truly knew Chen Yaping's character. Moreover, she was taking Gu Xiuyu's salary, and to curry favor and get a raise, she might very well tell him.
Seeing Ye Ziyu still troubled, Di Mingjue stepped forward and pulled her to sit on the bed. "Don't think about it. Let's sleep."
On the same bed, they were covered by a single quilt. Di Mingjue embraced Ye Ziyu, turning his side to look at her handsome face. "At this time tomorrow, we'll be with the children."
"You must be careful tomorrow," Ye Ziyu reminded him uneasily, tilting her head.
Di Mingjue chuckled teasingly, "Worried I don't have the ability to protect you?"
Sensing his deliberate provocation, Ye Ziyu patted his chest. "What time is it, and you're still in the mood to joke?"
"No more joking," Di Mingjue said, pulling Ye Ziyu back into his embrace. "Let's sleep."
With Di Mingjue by her side, Ye Ziyu found it even harder to sleep. She was afraid Gu Xiuyu might open the door in the middle of the night and forcefully kept her eyes open, afraid to rest.
However, she couldn't resist Di Mingjue patting her back to lull her to sleep. Her tired eyes gradually closed, and drowsiness crept into her body.
A night of good dreams.
The next morning, it seemed the weather sensed that something big was about to happen. A strong wind blew and a drizzling rain fell early in the morning.
Hearing the sound of raindrops hitting the glass, Ye Ziyu suddenly woke up from her sleep.
Di Mingjue, who was already awake, was standing by the inner side of the balcony, looking at the turbulent sea in the distance.
The bad weather added uncertain factors to their actions.
Ye Ziyu got out of bed and went to Di Mingjue's side. "What are you looking at?"
"You'll cooperate with Gu Xiuyu to prepare the evening banquet. I'll notify you in advance when the time comes," Di Mingjue said with a stern expression.
The actions tonight might involve bloody scenes, but it was uncertain who would get hurt.
"Why don't we find an opportunity to leave here and avoid a direct confrontation with him?" Ye Ziyu suggested.
