"Leave?" Gu Xiuyu's question blurted out.
His plan hadn't even begun, and they were already preparing to depart?
Ye Chenhan paid no mind to Gu Xiuyu's opinion and replied, "We've already graced this banquet with our presence. Does Young Master Gu truly expect us to wait until the banquet concludes before leaving?"
Faced with such hostility, Gu Xiuyu no longer intended to try and win over Ye Chenhan out of consideration for Ye Ziyu.
Not only was this intentionally extended olive branch not cherished, but it was also ruthlessly trampled upon.
"Does Fourth Master have an issue with me? Why do I feel like Fourth Master has been targeting me?" Gu Xiuyu asked, his eyes wide with feigned innocence.
The outward gentlemanly demeanor, coupled with these innocent eyes, immediately exuded a "green tea" aura.
Ye Chenhan, upon witnessing this, felt an urge to vomit.
"You're overthinking it. Who would bother targeting you!"
"Chenhan!"
Ye Shaoting approached. Seeing Ye Chenhan's confrontational stance towards Gu Xiuyu, he reprimanded him with clear dissatisfaction, "What are you doing?"
Ye Chenhan backed down.
Having been managed by Ye Shaoting since childhood, his elder brother's authority instilled a greater sense of dread in him than even Ye Qianzhi.
Subconsciously moving closer to Di Mingjue, Ye Chenhan pushed him forward, "Mingjue is worried that Ziyu will not be able to manage the three children alone at home and plans to return early. I am also concerned about Xixi, worrying that she might not be able to cope with Uncle Yu alone. Perhaps Young Master Gu misunderstood and thought we had an issue with him."
Weaving a tale, Ye Chenhan's fabrication became smoother as he spoke, effortlessly shifting the blame for everything onto Gu Xiuyu without a flicker of guilt.
Little did he know, Ye Shaoting and Gu Xiuyu were actually on the same path.
Ye Shaoting's expression turned slightly heavy, "Mingjue, is this true?"
"Mm," Di Mingjue nodded, too lazy to offer further explanation.
"Mingjue, Chenhan is immature, but why are you also being so reckless? Even if you have something important to attend to, you should wait until the banquet officially begins before leaving. By leaving now, what position do you place the host in? What will Young Master Gu think?" Ye Shaoting began with a lecture.
These words might have had an effect on Ye Chenhan, but they were merely troublesome when directed at Di Mingjue.
His actions were dictated solely by his own thoughts, and no one had the right to judge him.
After Ye Shaoting finished speaking, neither Di Mingjue nor Ye Chenhan offered any response.
The situation fell into a stalemate.
"Wait!" Gu Xiuyu stopped a passing waiter, "Place it here."
The waiter set down the tray they were holding on a nearby table.
Gu Xiuyu picked up one of the glasses and handed it to Ye Shaoting. After Ye Shaoting accepted it, he took another glass and handed it to Di Mingjue.
"It's understandable if President Di has matters to attend to. Let's toast together, consider it a formal greeting. After we drink, President Di and Fourth Master are free to leave."
Upon hearing that they could leave, Ye Chenhan willingly took one of the remaining two glasses.
The glasses clinked together, and they both tilted their heads back, downing the champagne in their glasses.
"We've finished drinking. We're leaving now," Ye Chenhan said, setting down his glass and making a move to depart.
Gu Xiuyu glanced at Di Mingjue, "There are still guests here, so I won't see you out."
If they didn't see them out, would they be unable to find their way?
Ye Chenhan wore a look of disdain.
Upon exiting the hotel, Di Mingjue saw the reporters who had yet to disperse. The noisy clamor inexplicably agitated him.
"Mingjue!" Ye Chenhan thumped his shoulder forcefully, "I've called you several times, what are you thinking about?"
He had called him?
Di Mingjue hadn't heard a sound. He stared blankly at Ye Shaoting, seeing his lips move, but unable to hear what he was saying. Shaking his head, his unfocused gaze eventually steadied, but the world still appeared blurry.
"It's too noisy."
"Noisy?"
Ye Chenhan instinctively glanced at the reporters beside them. All he heard was the clicking of camera shutters; the multitude of voices interwoven indeed constituted a form of noise.
