The hospital parking lot.
Ye Ziyu quietly followed Gu Xiuyu to parking space D4.
"Ziyu, my car is right ahead." Gu Xiuyu pointed to the black BMW facing them at the front of the lot.
Ye Ziyu looked up and nodded.
Arriving at the car, Gu Xiuyu opened the door and leaned his upper body into the vehicle.
Ye Ziyu turned back to look in the direction they had come from.
"I remember putting it on me, why isn't it in the car?" Gu Xiuyu unbuckled the front of the car, and everything inside was rummaged through.
The passenger seat and the driver's seat were a mess, and the small USB drive was nowhere to be seen.
After waiting for a moment, Ye Ziyu watched Gu Xiuyu continue to search, her expectations dwindling. "If you can't find it, forget it. I'll go myself when I have time."
Gu Xiuyu hastily pulled himself out of the car. "I heard the hotel's surveillance is cleared at fixed times. Why don't I take you there now, and you can copy it again."
Go now?
There were still many things to attend to at the hospital, and more importantly, Ye Ziyu did not want to be away from Di Mingjue for too long.
"Thank you for your kind offer, Mr. Gu. Mingjue is still waiting for me in the ward, and I can't leave his side for too long at the moment." Ye Ziyu refused. "Don't trouble yourself with the surveillance, Mr. Gu. I will arrange for Assistant Shen to go to the hotel and copy it again later. Thank you for your concern about the surveillance."
Seeing Ye Ziyu about to leave, Gu Xiuyu knew this was the last chance he had to speak with her calmly.
"Wait!" Gu Xiuyu called out to Ye Ziyu.
Turning back in confusion, Ye Ziyu looked at him, not understanding.
"The hospital can't do anything about the poison Di Mingjue has ingested, can they!"
Ye Ziyu frowned, noticing the shift in Gu Xiuyu's expression.
Was this matter really related to him?
"Did you give him the poison?" Ye Ziyu questioned.
Gu Xiuyu stepped towards Ye Ziyu and reached out to touch her, but Ye Ziyu nimbly dodged him.
"Mr. Gu, please answer my question!"
"Yes."
Gu Xiuyu answered Ye Ziyu's inquiry truthfully. Seeing the disgust rising in her eyes, he no longer cared about appearances.
"There is a way to save Di Mingjue, but you must agree to one of my conditions."
"Do you have the antidote?"
"Of course. The antidote was created at the same time the poison was manufactured. But, as you know, I have my own wishes for Di Mingjue's fate."
Sensing Gu Xiuyu's murderous intent towards Di Mingjue, Ye Ziyu knew his condition would inevitably involve her. He would resort to such malicious acts just to possess her.
What was the point?
Ye Ziyu said to him, "I can agree to your condition, but I want to get the antidote first, and only after I see that Di Mingjue is completely fine will I fulfill your request."
"Good." Gu Xiuyu's eyes held a smile. "Aren't you curious about what my condition is?"
"You stay by my side," Ye Ziyu said it casually.
Gu Xiuyu was surprised, but his smile widened. "You are absolutely right. As long as you stay by my side and become my wife, I can give you the antidote and let Di Mingjue go."
Watching him speak such high-sounding words, Ye Ziyu regretted meeting him abroad and kindly lending him her phone.
Was it truly worth destroying others, and yourself, out of mere greed?
Ye Ziyu looked at Gu Xiuyu, and doubt began to surface. "Do you truly love me?"
"I love you. I will love you more than Di Mingjue. Anything he cannot give you, anything he cannot satisfy, I can. I don't even care that you have children with another man; I can treat them as my own, and even forgo having children of our own forever. But Di Mingjue wouldn't be able to. If he knew you had been intimate with another man, he would surely abandon you." Gu Xiuyu stepped forward and grabbed Ye Ziyu's arm, his voice filled with agitation.
