Chapter 858 His Daughter

Chen Han closed his eyes, resigned to his fate. Having spent years working for others, he never imagined he would be repeatedly defeated by them.

The office door was pushed open, and Di Mingjue entered with Ye Ziyu.

“Are they the ones who kidnapped Xiao Ran?” Ye Ziyu asked, looking at the man bound to the chair.

Shen Lin turned and replied, “Yes, Madam. We found them as they were preparing to leave Sijiu City by boat.”

If they had been a moment later, these men might have already escaped.

Ye Ziyu’s gaze fell upon Chen Han, a sense of familiarity dawning on her. “Was it him who tried to run us over with his car that day?”

Hearing this, Chen Han opened his eyes and met Ye Ziyu’s questioning stare.

With a rip, the tape was torn from Chen Han’s face. Ye Ziyu pressed on, “Who is behind you, instructing you to do these things?”

They weren’t even acquaintances, so how could a conflict have arisen that led him to repeatedly target her and those around her? There was only one possibility: someone was directing him.

Chen Han’s mouth was no longer taped, but his lips remained tightly sealed.

Did he think silence would make him get away with it?

Ye Ziyu’s indifferent gaze fixed on Chen Han’s eyes. “You were entrusted by Jiang Feifei, weren’t you!”

Only she could have tracked them to Sijiu City! It seemed that her previous attempt to jump into the sea had not deterred her misguided intentions.

Guilt-ridden, Chen Han kept his mouth shut and his eyes closed, refusing to look at anyone. He was like a wooden man, only capable of breathing and nothing else.

Pretending ignorance was useless!

Ye Ziyu turned to look at Di Mingjue.

“Shen Lin, bring the child from the conference room,” Di Mingjue said.

The word "child" caused Chen Han’s closed eyelashes to tremble uncontrollably, and his hands gripped the sides of the chair with unease.

Their plan was to escape Sijiu City, wait for the situation to blow over, and then return. Everything was proceeding as usual until they were discovered by Di Mingjue’s men at the dock as they were boarding the ship.

His life in hiding had been difficult, and he didn’t want his daughter to suffer. So, he had paid a large sum of money to have her taken care of by others. He hadn’t expected them to even capture his daughter.

He might be a bad person, but he was also a qualified father.

Chen Han opened his eyes and retorted indignantly, “Aren’t you also using the child? What’s the difference between us!”

He asked what the difference was?

Di Mingjue smiled.

“You kidnapped them with the intention of harming them, while we merely wish to threaten you to obtain information about the person behind you.”

With the individuals already in hand, Di Mingjue saw no need for concealment, openly stating his objective.

Shen Lin returned shortly, a young girl by his side, with Ye Chenhan following behind.

“What is this?” Ye Chenhan asked, looking at the two bound individuals in the office and then at Di Mingjue and Ye Ziyu with confusion.

The scene before him felt like a courtroom, with Di Mingjue’s authoritative demeanor akin to a judge. It seemed he had arrived at an inopportune moment.

Di Mingjue ignored Ye Chenhan and motioned for Shen Lin to release the girl he was holding.

“Daddy!” The girl, clutching a doll, ran joyfully to Chen Han. “That uncle bought me lots of yummy food and many dolls. I like them very much.”

Having not seen her father for a long time, the little girl’s eyes were filled only with her longing for Chen Han, completely oblivious to the fact that he was currently tied to a chair.

Chen Han forced a smile, attempting to reach out and stroke his daughter’s face, but his wrists were firmly secured to the chair. Resigned, he abandoned the thought of touching her. “Really? Daddy never knew our Nuannuan liked dolls.”

Hearing the hint of sadness in his voice, the little girl immediately put down the doll and shook her head. “Compared to dolls, Nuannuan prefers being with Daddy.”
