Chapter 536 Beneath the Ruined Temple

The scene suddenly plunged into darkness, and the sound of the whistling wind echoed through the mountain forest, eerie and chilling, like the wail of ghosts.

If an ordinary person were to witness such a situation, they would surely be paralyzed by fear. However, Wu Tian was not afraid.

He had played in the mountains since he was a child, sometimes even venturing out on the mountain in the dead of night.

Therefore, for him, such a situation held no cause for fear.

He gathered his spiritual energy into his eyes, and instantly, his eyes began to emit a faint glow, making his surroundings suddenly become clear.

He walked towards the dilapidated temple.

This ruined temple looked quite old, with many broken roof tiles and wooden pillars, once painted red, now showing a mottled appearance.

It was more fitting to call it a haunted house than a temple.

Wu Tian pushed open the dilapidated wooden door, and a creaking sound immediately arose.

Inside the temple, the scene was one of ruin. The statues of the Three Pure Ones were missing limbs, and the beams were covered in cobwebs, giving the impression that no one lived there.

Wu Tian looked around the ruined temple, seeing no one, and felt a sense of confusion.

This was not right. Didn't Liu Guixiang say her brother was here?

Yet, there wasn't even a shadow of a person. Could it be that Liu Guixiang was lying?

Wu Tian felt surprised. He closed his eyes, and his spiritual energy quietly spread out like countless tentacles, permeating every corner of the ruined temple.

Suddenly, Wu Tian's brow furrowed slightly. Something was wrong!

He abruptly opened his eyes, then climbed onto a table and went behind a statue.

It was then that he discovered the source of his unease, for behind that statue, there was an opening!

The opening was like a cave, and if one crouched down, an adult could easily crawl through it!

"So, this is where you've been hiding."

Wu Tian said coldly, and without further thought, he crawled into the opening.

The opening led to a downward passage. Wu Tian slid down the passage and soon reached the underground of the ruined temple.

The space below was quite spacious, illuminated by flickering candlelight everywhere, giving it a very eerie appearance.

It was empty, and as far as the eye could see, there was nothing.

Wu Tian frowned and took two steps forward.

Suddenly, his footsteps halted abruptly, and his pupils contracted slightly!

At the same time, a chilling energy pressed in on him from all four directions. He quickly scanned his surroundings and realized he was surrounded!

"Are these... zombies?" Wu Tian exclaimed in surprise.

The sound of hopping echoed from all sides, and Wu Tian clearly saw seven or eight figures, with their arms held straight, hopping towards him.

They were all dressed in ancient attire, with yellow talismans pasted on their foreheads, looking exactly like the zombies from television!

After the initial shock, Wu Tian still felt no fear. Instead, he grinned and said with a cold smile, "To think you've even summoned zombies. You truly are a Daoist priest!"

The zombies stopped about a meter away from Wu Tian, their sharp claws pointed at him, looking very dangerous.

But Wu Tian paid them no mind. Instead, he spoke loudly, "Stop playing these tricks. I know you're here. You should come out and see me honestly!"

A deep, sinister voice echoed from the darkness, "Who are you, and what do you want with me?"

Wu Tian replied with a cold smile, "You are not qualified to ask me questions."

"I'll give you a choice. Come out and see me now, and I might show you some mercy. But if you remain stubborn, don't blame me for being impolite!"

Hearing Wu Tian's words, the voice seemed slightly surprised.

But soon, it let out a disdainful cold snort, "Hmph, arrogant and ignorant!"

"Although I don't know who you are, you dare to cause trouble on my territory. I think you're simply asking for death!"

As soon as the voice finished, all the zombies moved.

They opened their sharp claws and lunged at Wu Tian.

Wu Tian punched one zombie away, then leaped into the air, delivering a beautiful sweeping kick that sent all the zombies tumbling down.

However, zombies are essentially the dead, without sensation, and can be considered impervious to blades and spears. Thus, Wu Tian's attacks had no effect on them.

Their backs seemed to be equipped with springs, as they bounced directly off the ground and continued to lunge at Wu Tian.

Wu Tian knocked down a zombie, and that zombie would immediately jump up, continuing this cycle.

In the end, Wu Tian couldn't even deal with a single zombie.

Seeing this, the voice laughed triumphantly, "No wonder you dared to come looking for me. So, it turns out you're a martial arts expert!"

"But martial arts experts are useless against me. No matter how hard your fists and feet are, you can't defeat zombies!"

"Since you dared to cause trouble here today, I cannot let you go. You came, but you won't be leaving!"

Hearing this voice, Wu Tian said coldly, "Is that so? You think you've already won?"

"Don't you think you're celebrating too early?"

The voice sneered, "You're still putting up a tough front at this point? It seems your mouth is even harder than a zombie's!"

"What can you use against me? To me, you're just a toy!"

Wu Tian punched away a zombie and then sneered, "No way, are you really that confident in these broken things of yours?"

"Haven't you considered that zombies have a fatal weakness?"

Upon hearing Wu Tian's words, the voice immediately became wary, "What did you say? What do you mean by that?"

Wu Tian's eyes suddenly turned grim, "What I mean is, you'll know soon enough!"

As he spoke, Wu Tian suddenly transformed into a gust of wind, flashing past each zombie.

In the blink of an eye, Wu Tian returned to his original position.

And the zombies, after a two-second delay, collapsed to the ground!

Wu Tian released his grip, and a large number of yellow talismans fell from his hands.

He said coldly, "You thought I didn't know? This is a 'summoning' talisman, not a 'suppressing' talisman."

"A suppressing talisman is used to subdue zombies, while a summoning talisman acts like a signal receiver. You rely on it to control the zombies."

"But now that I've torn off the signal receiver, who will receive your signal?"

The voice became flustered, saying, "You... Who exactly are you? How do you know so much?"

Wu Tian continued to sneer, "You wicked Daoist priest, you only do evil deeds. Today, I must act on behalf of heaven. You should surrender obediently!"
