Su Qi coughed hard, feeling as if her organs, her five viscera, her heart, liver, spleen, stomach, and kidneys, were about to be sucked out by this man.
"Huo Tingyun! You're sick! You're crazy!"
Huo Tingyun?
She felt he was more like Huo the lunatic. This man, besides being rich and handsome, had no other redeeming qualities. He was ill-tempered, unpleasant, scheming, and sharp-tongued!
Su Qi wiped the corner of her mouth fiercely. Even her saliva tasted of the man's liquor. Disgusting!
"Su Qi, speak!"
"Speak about what?! Go die!"
Su Qi was so angry her lungs felt like they would explode. She had finally managed to fall asleep, and this man had directly kissed her awake!
He was photographed on a date with his young wife in the morning, and then he barged into her room at night to take advantage of her!
Life was truly colorful!
"Speak, say you love me! Hurry and say it!"
"Crazy! Go take your medicine!"
This man was utterly insane.
"Su Qi, say it! Say you love me, say you're jealous, say you can't live without me, say it..."
The man growled, like a furious lion unable to get its prey, or like a child throwing a tantrum because it couldn't get its snack.
The room was dark, with only the light filtering through the open curtains. Su Qi couldn't clearly see the expression on the man's face. His deep, hoarse voice was even more low and husky than usual, as if he had swallowed burning liquor, roaring at her, throwing a tantrum at her.
"Huo Tingyun, I don't love you! I don't love you! I don't love you! How many times do you want me to say it!"
Su Qi tried to break free from Huo Tingyun's grip. She had expected to be unable to shake him off, as usual. However, after she spoke those words, the man suddenly seemed to lose all his strength. With a slight struggle, Su Qi easily broke free from his hand.
The man instantly looked as if he had lost his soul, as if his tendons had been severed. His imposing frame swayed precariously, staggering twice.
The next day, Su Qi woke up with a headache and traces of saliva on her lips.
If not for the lingering smell of alcohol in the room, Su Qi would have truly believed that last night was a dream.
For the next few days, Huo Tingyun did not return to the Huo family's old residence. Su Qi enjoyed the peace, but the matter of Sheng Yuchen was still unresolved. Su Qi asked the auntie to stew some soup. It was Saturday, and Huo Tingyun was likely not at the company, probably at Juyuan.
Her car stopped. The pharmacy owner recognized her and seemed to remember, "Miss, are you visiting your colleague again?"
"Yes, boss. Becoming a father."
Su Qi returned a smile.
Carrying the soup, she went upstairs.
Standing at the entrance of Juyuan, Su Qi raised her hand and knocked.
Despite being mentally prepared, Su Qi still trembled and was caught off guard when Li Caiyi, wearing a nightgown, appeared before her.
Li Caiyi had just woken up, yawning as she opened the door. Her nightgown hung loosely, her hair was slightly disheveled, and there were several glaring red hickeys on her neck.
A cold sneer rose in Su Qi's heart.
"Miss Su, good morning. Are you looking for Tingyun?"
Tingyun?
Su Qi narrowed her eyes. "What is your relationship with Tingyun? Let me think, are you his lover, his girlfriend, or his wife? I am Huo Tingyun's legal wife. Regardless, even if you are Huo Tingyun's first love, you are living in my husband's house, and you should be grateful that I, the lawful wife, haven't kicked you out. After all, before Huo Tingyun and I divorce, all his assets are our joint marital property."
Li Caiyi's face turned pale. Su Qi was sharp-tongued and eloquent, and Li Caiyi was no match for her. Even Xu Ruyun couldn't out-argue Su Qi, let alone Li Caiyi.
Just as Li Caiyi was in an extremely awkward position, the man appeared behind her. Upon seeing Su Qi, his expression instantly darkened, like the weather, which was clear and sunny one moment and overcast the next.
"What are you doing here?"
When Huo Tingyun uttered these words in a cold voice, Su Qi felt, in that instant, that this man before her was so unfamiliar.
Back at Shencheng University, she had fallen in love with him at first sight and had loved Huo Tingyun madly for three years. Even knowing he didn't love her, she had still pursued him relentlessly. But looking at this man now, Su Qi realized with a shock that she had never truly entered this man's heart from the beginning.
Even Li Caiyi, whom he had known for only a month, might understand Huo Tingyun better than she did.
How ridiculous she was.
Su Qi suppressed the bitterness in her heart, flashed a brilliant smile, and handed over the stewed soup. "Your stomach isn't well, so I brought you soup. Have you considered what I discussed with you last time?"
Su Qi held the thermos. The aroma of the stewed soup within, even through the lid of the thermos, overflowed, emitting a fragrant scent – a taste he had longed to savor many times but had never truly appreciated.
Her smile was bright, as if she were meeting him for the first time, radiant and confident, yet with the shyness of a young girl.
But when she spoke, it was filled with purpose.
A strange sense of irritation welled up within him.
"Tingyun doesn't like soup. I'm sorry, Su... Mrs. Huo!"
Li Caiyi linked her arm through the man's and smiled at Su Qi.
Su Qi's gaze lingered on their clasped arms.
At this moment, she felt nothing but utter irony.
No mistress dared to be so brazen in front of the lawful wife.
Only the mistress kept by Huo Tingyun dared to be so arrogant.
Because she relied on Huo Tingyun's backing, she could act with impunity.
Su Qi tightened her grip on the handle of the soup pot and smiled faintly, her demeanor as gentle as a chrysanthemum. "Since he doesn't like soup, I won't bring it anymore. Mr. Huo, please consider what I discussed with you."
Mr. Huo.
She had reverted to such a distant form of address.
Su Qi turned to leave. He watched her retreating back, his eyes flashing with a hidden light. He wanted to rush after her, but his legs felt as heavy as lead.
"Tingyun, what are you looking at? Let's go back."
Li Caiyi reminded him from the side, but the man seemed not to hear. He just stared in that direction, even though the woman had long since disappeared.
Su Qi left Juyuan and stood at the gate, lost in thought for a long time.
The pharmacy owner came out. "Miss, did you give your colleague the soup?"
Su Qi gave a wry smile. "No, his girlfriend kicked me out."
The pharmacy owner was instantly taken aback. "Girlfriend?"
"Yes, girlfriend."
Su Qi wanted to cry, but when she raised her hand to touch her cheek, it was dry. Not a single tear fell.
She wanted to take a walk by herself, not knowing where to go, without purpose or direction, like a pier unable to find a shore.
She didn't know where she had walked to. The crowds thinned, and there were almost no cars on either side of the road. Just as Su Qi was about to take out her phone, a van suddenly drove up from behind her. Su Qi paused and stopped, and the van also stopped with her movement.
This is bad!
