Chapter 14 Refined Temperament

It was late autumn, and Xu Linchuan wore a trench coat over a simple white t-shirt and jeans.

He appeared gentle and refined, scholarly and cultured.

However, his attire.

Was exactly the same as Su Qi's.

While Su Qi was lost in thought, Xu Linchuan stopped smilingly before her.

"I knew you were here. This is the soup you didn't finish last time. It was just simmered. It's still not poisoned. Drink it if you want, or throw it away if you don't."

Huo Tingyun, upon seeing Xu Linchuan arrive, hadn't spoken yet, but Xu Linchuan had already stopped directly in front of Su Qi.

Su Qi felt like a transparent person, standing quietly in a spot not far away.

No one in the Huo family, not even Qin Xue, paid any attention to Su Qi.

Su Qi was startled, and Xu Linchuan had already placed a thermos in her hand.

Xu Linchuan took off his trench coat and draped it over Su Qi. "It's cold, you need to keep warm."

Su Qi's mind went blank.

Huo Tingyun's eyes, however, blazed with fierce fire.

Before Xu Linchuan could approach, he gritted his teeth and asked, "What do you mean?"

"Tingyun, why ask that? Isn't it just as you see?"

Xu Linchuan merely smiled.

The spot where Huo Tingyun had hit him last time had already subsided.

He still smiled gently and humbly.

"Just as I see?" Huo Tingyun's sharp, dark eyes were filled with a dangerous aura. "Su Qi is my legal wife."

"Oh, I see Su Qi standing aside, and no one is paying attention to her. If you hadn't mentioned it, I wouldn't have known she was your wife.

By the way, haven't you passed the divorce cooling-off period? You're just missing the paperwork. Since that's the case, Su Qi also has the right to pursue a new relationship."

A new relationship?

Before Xu Linchuan said this, Huo Tingyun had never considered this question.

Nor had he ever thought of this term.

In his eyes, Su Qi was just one of many admirers who worshipped him.

The only difference was that she was the only woman he had ever been intimate with.

Even with divorce imminent, he still believed in his heart that Su Qi was his possession.

Now that Xu Linchuan had touched her, he couldn't describe what he felt.

It was an unbearable sensation.

It felt like a fire burning in his throat.

"You go home first. I'll handle things here. I'll call you if anything comes up."

Xu Linchuan turned and, with gentle persuasion, made Su Qi leave.

Su Qi's mind was still a blank even after she left the hospital.

She was still holding the thermos, and a man's jacket was draped over her.

This was the man, besides Brother Su Yan and Grandpa, who cared about her.

Su Qi didn't dislike Xu Linyun. She had been worried that Xu Linchuan would tell Huo Tingyun about her pregnancy.

Now, it seemed she had worried for nothing.

She didn't know what grudge Xu Linchuan had against Huo Tingyun.

She wasn't stupid; she could tell that Xu Linchuan's actions just now were meant to provoke Huo Tingyun.

But why?

On the hospital corridor outside the emergency room.

As soon as Su Qi left, Huo Tingyun, whose fists were already clenched tightly, landed a heavy blow on Xu Linchuan's face.

Although Xu Linchuan reacted quickly and dodged most of it, he still took a hit. A trace of blood seeped from the corner of his mouth.

"Tingyun!" Qin Xue, not understanding what was happening, suddenly stood up, looking at the scene in shock.

What was wrong with this child!

Why was he acting as if he had taken the wrong medicine!

Xu Linchuan was Huo Tingyun's childhood friend, they were as close as brothers.

How could they come to blows!

In Qin Xue's eyes, Xu Linchuan was gentle and considerate, and she had long regarded Xu Linchuan as a godson.

She felt for both of them, no matter who got hurt.

"Tingyun, Linchuan is here to treat your father, what are you doing!"

Qin Xue quickly went to stop Huo Tingyun.

Xu Linchuan licked the blood from his lips, raised his eyes, and smiled, fixing his gaze on Huo Tingyun.

They were of similar height.

Huo Tingyun was known as the cold-faced Rakshasa of Shenzhen, famous for his decisive business tactics.

But even standing there with a gentle smile, Xu Linchuan seemed to be no match for Huo Tingyun.

"Since you chose to marry Linyun and divorce Su Qi, don't deny her the right to pursue happiness. After all, you should know very well that she hasn't been happy during the year she was married to you." Xu Linchuan had investigated Su Qi's background and felt a pain so intense he couldn't breathe.

He realized how unhappy she had been.

Before this, he had always thought Su Qi was just a scheming woman who would do anything to get ahead.

"Also, if you want me to operate on Uncle Huo, I can do that, but you have to agree to one condition: divorce Su Qi."

When Xu Linchuan finished speaking, Qin Xue and the Huo family members were stunned.

Qin Xue's eyes widened in surprise as she looked at Xu Linchuan. "Linchuan, what do you mean by that?"

"My sister is not young anymore, she can't wait. Tingyun, since you promised to marry my sister, fulfill your promise as soon as possible. If you can't, don't give her false hope."

Xu Linchuan's voice was clear and his expression gentle, but his words were sharp and piercing, hitting their mark.

Qin Xue looked at Huo Tingyun. "Get the divorce papers done quickly, it only takes a few minutes."

It was already the last day of the divorce cooling-off period.

His assistant had said that Tingyun wasn't particularly busy these days.

Why was he dragging his feet and not processing the paperwork?

The hospital corridor lights were so bright, but Huo Tingyun's stern face was devoid of any light, only a deep gloom and despondency.

"You're confronting me for a woman?!"

Huo Tingyun's voice was chillingly cold.

Why did it have to be Su Qi?

Xu Linchuan smiled faintly. "Tingyun, that's a question I should be asking you."

The young girl he met that day at Shenzhen University, Huo Tingyun, who had been clear-headed from beginning to end.

How could he not have seen the girl's face clearly, how could he not know her name.

Huo Tingyun knew very well that the person he was looking for was Su Qi.

And he married her.

Xu Linchuan's smile grew more intense. "Mr. Huo, you can consider it. After all, the surgery is a major undertaking. Saving Uncle Huo's life depends on you."

"You're threatening me."

Huo Tingyun's clenched fists made cracking sounds.

Facing such a devil, Xu Linchuan merely smiled. "I hope you resolve your relationship with Su Qi soon. I'd like to become in-laws with you."

Although Qin Xue didn't quite understand what they were talking about, she still chimed in. "Linchuan is just anxious. Su Qi just left, call her." Huo Tingyun took out his phone.

Xu Linchuan was surprised and his smile widened.

Huo Tingyun dialed the number.

After a few rings.

He couldn't hear what was being said on the other end.

Only Huo Tingyun's deep voice could be heard, "Dr. Jin, please come to the City Hospital."

Jin Congwen was the most renowned surgeon in the country, and Xu Linchuan was Jin Congwen's only disciple.
