305 Luring the Enemy Out

I said, "Alright then, since Senior has arranged for an operation, I'll resolve things here first."

Lan Ya hung up the phone. Xie Nana entered the room, followed by a server who brought me breakfast.

Xie Nana: "There are two suspicious people by the elevator. Are they Uncle's men?"

I said, "From now on, you are not to leave this room. If I'm not here, make sure to lock the door from the inside."

Xie Nana: "Is it really him?"

I nodded. "He's after me. It seems he's determined to take my head this time."

Xie Nana: "Should I step in?"

I said, "Do you think he'll spare you as his niece? He saw you condemn him in the club. How could he possibly care about your familial ties?"

Xie Nana: "Then I can't just stand by and watch you get killed!"

I said, "You just stay put in the room. I'm not that easily killed, don't worry."

Xie Nana sat beside me, watching me eat, her face filled with fear.

I said, "Before I met you, I was being hunted every single day. Chen Liben, Principal Sun, the Crown Prince, who came with your father to the club – weren't they all after my life? How many times have I faced near-death experiences, licking blood off the tip of a blade? Every time, my life hung by a thread. Now, only Brother Hui remains. What is there to fear? Just stay in the room, it's really nothing."

Xie Nana: "Ah! They were all your rivals? I thought you were friends because you all seemed to get along so well."

I said, "At that time, I was Sheng Hao, not Li Hua. When I was Li Hua, I can't even recall how many fatal blows they dealt me. Take the youngest, the Crown Prince. He plotted against me openly and secretly, even kidnapping my father. Once, his men ambushed me, leaving me in a vegetative state for days. If the King of Hell hadn't refused to take me, you probably would never have known I existed in this world. Chen Liben, who colluded with your father, Brother Hui, was even more ruthless. On one occasion, his men threw me and Wen Siqiang into Death Valley, to spend a night with poisonous snakes and leopards. Watching death lurk all around us, that feeling is something I'll never forget."

Xie Nana's eyes widened in astonishment. She seemed terrified by the things I recounted so casually.

I had only mentioned a few incidents, and she was already this shaken. If she had experienced as many life-or-death situations by my side as Jing Lei, she would surely be even more worried.

I put down my chopsticks, gently hugged her, and whispered in her ear, "See? I'm fine. With that said, is Brother Hui sending a few people really that frightening?"

Xie Nana nodded, seemingly understanding my nonchalant attitude.

I said, "You stay put in the room and wait for me. Remember, no matter who knocks, don't open the door. I'll call you when I return. Besides my call, don't go near the door."

She nodded, hugging me tightly, reluctant to let me go.

I returned her embrace, then let her go. I turned and walked out of the room.

Standing at the door, I heard Xie Nana lock it securely before I left. I didn't take the elevator. I went up the stairs to Senior's room.

Xie Nana mentioned earlier that there were suspicious people loitering near the elevator, so I should avoid them.

I have the access card for Senior's room, so I can enter without knocking.
