Take a bite of pudding

Chapter 379 Campus Belle Ranking

"Madam Versailles, we heard you joined a company called America First Group and became their CEO. Is this true?"

"Miss Versailles, didn't you publicly state that capital should restrain its behavior and contribute to eliminating discrimination? Why have you joined a capital group now?"

As Versailles set foot on Harvard's campus, a group of reporters immediately swarmed her, eager for an interview. They had painstakingly learned that Versailles would be returning to school for classes, and with several recent high-profile news stories concerning her, a large contingent of reporters was naturally gathered.

Versailles did not shy away from the reporters' presence. Instead, she faced the cameras directly and stated, "Yes, I have indeed accepted an offer from the America First Foundation and have become the President of the America First Group."

"The reason I accepted this offer is that during the worst period of my life, when I was nearly killed by the police and spent three months in the ICU, it was the America First Foundation that funded my treatment. Their selfless assistance gave me a new life, which is why I accepted their invitation to become President of the America First Group without hesitation!"

"Furthermore, I didn't actually agree to the America First Foundation just a few days ago. In fact, I had already become the President of the America First Group after I was discharged from the hospital. However, because we hadn't found a suitable project to manage, our group had no significant commercial actions, leading many people to be unaware of this company's existence."

"Whether it's the America First Foundation or the America First Group, our goal is singular: to help more Americans, to help those in difficult situations who have suffered social injustice. It doesn't matter if they are Black, White, women, or men; we will offer them assistance. It is precisely for this reason that the America First Foundation appointed me as President, because only those who have experienced absolute hardship, like myself, can empathize with and understand others who are suffering."

"At the same time, I believe that my becoming President of the America First Group does not violate my previous promises. On the contrary, I intend to use this company to fulfill my commitments."

"I have always believed that an excellent company or capital should not only generate profits but also contribute to society, helping those in need. Therefore, after becoming President of the America First Group, I will do my utmost to utilize this company to help those facing difficulties!"

"All you reporters can remember my promise today!" After her explanation, Versailles left decisively, leaving behind a swarm of photographers.

"Boss, here are all the class notes from the past two weeks!" As Versailles entered the academic building, a young woman handed her a notebook.

She was Versailles' secretary, a legitimate Harvard University student who, however, faced significant financial difficulties and was burdened by a substantial student loan. Thus, she was easily persuaded by Versailles to become her secretary, handling some daily affairs before the America First Group was fully established.

"Thank you!" Versailles nodded, then found a seat and began to meticulously review the notes.

"Boss, the teachers have already indicated that you only need to pass a simple defense to graduate. Why are you still looking at these class notes?" the secretary asked curiously.

"Indeed, I can graduate directly, but once you take that step, people will always question your qualifications throughout your life. Only by graduating through your own efforts can you silence those doubters!" Versailles said calmly. "Moreover, my childhood was already out of sync with society, and I lived in the sewers for five years afterward. I had already become disconnected from society."

"Now, by taking these sociology courses, I can re-understand and reintegrate into society, and also gain a clearer perspective on the essence of society. This knowledge itself is priceless!"

"Oh my goodness, Boss, no wonder they call you Versailles! You are as mysterious and noble as the Palace of Versailles!" the secretary fawned, earning a roll of Versailles' eyes.

"By the way, I asked you to monitor Harvard University's various campus websites. How is your work going?" Versailles inquired.

"I've been monitoring them. Our Harvard University currently has over a thousand different campus websites. However, most of them are for self-amusement, and the rest are quite boring. I don't see any potential investment opportunities here!" the secretary replied.

"Let me see the information and the computer!" Versailles said. The secretary promptly handed Versailles a laptop, along with a detailed record of the websites.

Versailles scanned the list and her eyes lit up upon seeing a particular name. She then asked, "Do you know about this website called Facemash?"

"This one? It's the most boring of all the websites!" the secretary said, gritting her teeth upon seeing the name. "The sole purpose of this website's establishment is to frantically collect and secretly photograph all the female students on campus, ascertain their names, and upload them online for those damned men to vote on, selecting the most beautiful women. I've never seen such a disgusting website in my life."

Following this, the secretary spent a full ten minutes cursing the website in various ways, while Versailles listened, nodded, and simultaneously browsed more detailed information about the site.

Harvard University has a total of 18,000 enrolled students, with a male-to-female ratio of approximately 6:4. This means there should be around 7,200 female students.

However, this website already features photos of over 5,800 different female students. Approximately 5,100 of these have their names attached, which is quite an impressive achievement.

The detailed information on Harvard female students is surely held only by the administration, and the administration would never leak such data to students, as it would be a massive scandal, leading to the dissolution of the entire Board of Trustees and potentially the ruin of Harvard University's century-old reputation.

Therefore, the photos of female students on this website are essentially all collected by the website itself, which is very remarkable.

After all, Harvard University's campus is extremely vast. To collect such a large number of female student photos single-handedly through secret photography would be an almost impossible task.

Yet, this website indeed possesses so many photos, most of which include the girls' names and even some departmental information, which is truly impressive.

However, after a more careful review of the entire website's structure, Versailles realized she had wasted her admiration.

This is because only 1% of these photos were uploaded by the website operators. While currently, 99% are photos uploaded by registered members of the site, and the names and detailed information of those female students were also annotated by the members themselves.

Simply put, the founder of this website merely built a blank platform, with all content filled in by the users themselves.

It would be impossible for one person to obtain photos of over 5,000 female students. But if there were 100 people, it would be a task that could be accomplished by casually taking photos each day.

Simultaneously, because this website would attract a large number of photos of female students from across the entire school, it served as a massive selling point, drawing in more male students to browse.

And if these male students found that the website lacked female students they were familiar with, or simply didn't feature any women they considered attractive, they would then promptly upload new photos themselves.

Thus, through this gradual process, the website eventually accumulated a vast collection of over 5,000 photos and information on female students.

In fact, Versailles also discovered that the website's users were not exclusively male; there were also a significant number of female users. Of course, the primary purpose for these female users was to solicit votes for themselves on this website, as it was a site where men voted to identify the most attractive women on campus.

Versailles glanced at the current rankings. The top-ranked individual was a blonde, blue-eyed woman with a curvaceous figure, exuding an aura of ultimate allure.

More importantly, the photo showed minimal clothing, barely covering essential areas, with the rest exposed, revealing healthy, tanned skin.

It was only natural for such a woman to be ranked first. However, these photos did not look like candid shots; rather, they resembled meticulously staged and expertly photoshopped magazine-quality images, something no male student could easily obtain.

Considering that users could freely upload their own photos, Versailles had reason to suspect that this photo was uploaded by the woman herself.

The next dozen or so rankings were also of similarly refined photos, each showcasing a woman's most alluring angles.

Only after reaching the 50th rank did candidly taken photos gradually start to appear more frequently.

When Versailles scrolled to the 85th position, she surprisingly found her own photograph.

Given that Versailles was once a beautiful young girl, but after enduring various inhuman treatments, her body and face were covered in scars, making her almost synonymous with ugliness. It was hard to imagine that she would be ranked 85th.

Versailles looked at the users who had voted for her, and they were almost exclusively female avatars. Clearly, her 85th-place ranking was likely due to the large number of female users on the site.

This was also quite normal. Since most girls could not make it into the top 10, it was understandable for them to vote for an outwardly ugly woman to boost her position.

Moreover, considering Versailles' experiences, she was the perfect embodiment of inner beauty.

With this thought, Versailles suddenly typed in her secretary's name. The result displayed was that her secretary ranked 4632nd on the website, having received only 2 votes.

Versailles then roughly understood why her secretary harbored such intense hatred for this website.
