Chapter 857: Chapter 857: [Extra] She Exists Outside the Rules
"Draw lots for what, just go to Grandpa’s Company," Sheng Yan Cheng said.
Can’t he still have a say in this house?
"Grandpa!" Sheng Ning’an looked over at the old man.
As soon as his eldest granddaughter spoke, the old man immediately compromised, "Okay, okay, we’ll listen to my eldest granddaughter, draw lots it is."
The result was that Sheng Ning’an ended up going to her dad’s Company.
The old man was displeased and tried to change the result, "I said go to Grandpa’s Company, with Grandpa protecting you, you wouldn’t have to worry about being bullied. If you go to your dad’s Company, your dad won’t care for you."
Sheng Ning’an comforted him, "No, I won’t let anyone bully me. If I’m not happy there, I’ll just go to Grandpa’s Company."
Only then did the old man reluctantly agree, "Okay, okay, then Grandpa will wait for you. Grandpa will have his secretary find a suitable position for you. Come whenever you like."
"Thank you, Grandpa!"
Having appeased the old man, Sheng Ning’an began preparing to intern at the Company. First, she needed to gear up, so the next morning she arranged to meet Tang Dou and head straight to the biggest mall in Jing City to pick out a couple of outfits suitable for work.
Walking in the mall, as Tang Dou watched her try on clothes, he commented, "Isn’t your closet at home almost full? Do you really need to go out and buy clothes?"
"Those clothes are too flashy and not formal enough, and they’re not fitting for my intern status," said Sheng Ning’an.
Most of her clothes were chosen by Qin Suxin, many being new arrivals at the boutiques, and some were even high-fashion items. If people didn’t recognize them, that was fine, but if they did, they might gossip or even suspect she was wearing fakes.
She’s just going to intern for two months and doesn’t want to draw too much attention.
It’s better to dress more low-key.
Tang Dou agreed with her reasoning, and they spent the whole morning shopping. At noon, they had lunch at a western restaurant on the top floor of the mall, and they watched a movie in the afternoon. During that time, she received a call from her dad informing her that her internship procedures were completed, and she could report to the Company the next day.
After leaving the cinema, they parted ways; Tang Dou took a cab home while Sheng Ning’an drove directly to Xu Weiran’s place.
They had dinner together, and Sheng Ning’an mentioned her plan to intern at her dad’s Company.
Xu Weiran also thought it would be good for her to find something to do during the break; interning at the Company was a nice idea—just worried about her personality, fearing she might struggle in getting along with colleagues.
The workplace is much more complicated than school.
Personal ability is just one aspect; interpersonal relationships and social skills are equally crucial.
Knowing her personality, she’s not the type to please or socialize with others, so she might suffer a bit.
"Since it’s your first time interning at a Company, maintaining good relationships with colleagues is important. If you’re polite to everyone, they’ll be more willing to help you," said Xu Weiran.
Sheng Ning’an frowned slightly at this.
She hadn’t thought that interning would be so troublesome.
Worried about dampening her enthusiasm, Xu Weiran quickly offered reassurance, "Of course, you’re just interning for two months, so no need to overly compromise. The most important thing is to be happy."
After all, she’s just there to experience life, without the pressure of promotions, and it’s her family’s Company.
The workplace rules, she’ll gradually come to understand. But she’s inherently outside of those rules, so there shouldn’t be too much to worry about.
