Chapter 42 The 6 AM Alarm Was Too Loud

"Mm... are you sure? If today passes, there's no more chance," she said, her heart racing, but she forced herself to act as if she wasn't.

He chuckled, "Don't push yourself. Go to bed, I'll take a shower and come to hold you."

He paused, then added in a low voice, "How could I bear to let you wash?"

Take a shower and come to hold you...

How could I bear to let you wash...

Oh my god, what kind of personality was he showing? How could he suddenly be so eloquent? So good at flirting???

Su Yue's face flushed uncontrollably. She gave a small "mm" and quickly left, not forgetting to close the door behind her.

She lay down on the bed, turned the air conditioning down a notch, then pulled the quilt tight around her. Her mind was filled with his words. She was startled to realize she was getting caught up in the thrill of interacting with someone she liked, and remembering her own resolution to remain calm, she scolded herself inwardly again.

To distract herself, she started thinking about tomorrow's tennis match...

A few minutes later, she fell asleep.

After all, it was too late, and she was too tired today.

Chen Ziming came to the bedside after his shower and saw the sleeping girl, a smile appearing at the corner of his lips.

The bedside lamp was turned down to its lowest setting, but it illuminated her sweetly slumbering face. Only a small head peeked out, her dark hair casually spread on the pillow, her long eyelashes trembling softly with her breath. Her delicate skin added a touch of tranquility to the moment.

He pulled back the covers and lay down, slipping his arm beneath her neck. His other hand went around her front, sliding under her pajamas and moving upwards to a soft place.

The girl murmured softly, as if expressing dissatisfaction at being disturbed, but she didn't pull away, continuing to sleep.

She was so fragrant, so soft, so captivating.

No matter how tired he was, holding her was enough to dispel it all.

He hugged her tighter, then closed his eyes with a sense of peace, falling into a deep sleep alongside her.

The next morning.

Chen Ziming's alarm went off, and both of them woke up.

"What time is it?" Su Yue rubbed her eyes, feeling incredibly drowsy and annoyed by the alarm.

"Six o'clock." He turned off the alarm, ruffled her cheek, and got out of bed.

This was too early!

She usually slept until at least seven o'clock after getting back from school. She had a class at ten this morning, and the tennis match started at three in the afternoon, so she wasn't in a hurry. But being woken up at six meant she couldn't get a full night's sleep.

She was very unhappy.

Chen Ziming heard her grumble with morning temper, then pulled the covers over her head, remaining still.

He smiled and went to the bathroom to wash up.

Su Yue, however, couldn't fall back asleep. After half an hour of restlessness, she reluctantly got out of bed.

After she had gotten ready, she stepped out of the bedroom. Chen Ziming happened to be returning from outside, dressed in sportswear and running shoes, having apparently gone for a workout.

He was also carrying breakfast.

"You're awake?" he asked, seeing her already dressed and sitting at the bar, drinking water.

Su Yue ignored him, still feeling grumpy from lack of sleep.

He didn't argue with her. He went to put the breakfast in the dishes. There was a small supermarket in the residential complex, with several restaurants on the ground floor. He had gone to buy two thick-cut toast sandwiches from a newly opened shop.

Two thick slices of toast, buttered and toasted to a golden crisp, filled with soft scrambled eggs, green lettuce, and tomato, looked very appetizing.

He also poured two glasses of milk and placed them on the dining table.

"Come and eat breakfast," he said, approaching her.

She was indeed a little hungry, especially when the aroma of the food wafted into her nose. After a moment of internal struggle, she went.

The toast was too big for her to finish, so she handed the remaining half to him.

"You can't even finish this much," he frowned, but he took it, not minding that she had left some, and finished it for her.

Su Yue's mood improved slightly.

After breakfast, it was almost half-past seven. He quickly rinsed off again and changed into a fresh police uniform.

"Are you going to school? I'll give you a ride," he said, picking up his car keys and standing at the door.
