Chapter 28 The Threat

"I, fear, him?" Su Minghua sat back in his desk chair, his eyes fixed on Su Yue with a chilling glare, and spoke through gritted teeth, enunciating each word.

Su Yue dared not speak further but continued to stare at him. Having lived with him for so many years, she could already discern some of his thoughts from his expression.

He was definitely apprehensive.

What exactly did Chen Ziming's family do that would make him fear?

A thought suddenly flashed through Su Yue's mind, and that spark of inspiration was caught by Su Minghua.

"What's that look on your face, what are you thinking?" His tone grew colder, as if he wished he could kill her.

Suddenly, there was a knock on the door. It was Jiang Ling.

"You two should come out for dinner!"

Su Minghua calmed his breathing and replied, "In a moment."

Jiang Ling smiled and went to the kitchen.

Su Minghua walked up to Su Yue again. She tensed and retreated. Seeing this, Su Minghua sneered:

"Don't let your mother see anything, finish your meal quietly."

"There might be a mark on my neck…" she replied in a small voice.

Su Minghua lowered his head to look. Indeed, the red mark he had left when he was angry was clearly visible.

Beyond that, he also noticed other ambiguous marks…

"You slept with him, didn't you?" His rage was suppressed with extreme effort, and he asked in a very, very low voice.

Su Yue dared not look at him, only nodding cautiously.

Su Minghua had already guessed this would be the case, but when she actually admitted it, he couldn't help but feel his heart ache.

He had raised her, cherished and loved her like a treasure, and was unwilling to touch her, yet she turned around and did something like this!

And the other party was Chen Ziming!

How many boys from families like his could truly care for her? They would only treat her as a plaything!

Yet she was still here foolishly nodding!

"Fine, Su Yue, you do this to me." He trembled with anger and actually laughed, a chilling, terrifying laugh. Su Yue didn't dare to move, her hands clasped tightly behind her back.

"You're tainted. I don't want tainted things, rest assured."

He hooked her chin and looked at her with fierce eyes, saying:

"Rest assured, I will never touch you again."

Su Yue's heart trembled. Although he said it, his expression clearly indicated he wasn't going to let her off the hook.

What was he planning to do?!

"I'll go out and keep your mother occupied. You take this chance to scram." He took a deep breath, regaining his composure, then opened the door and left.

Su Yue slumped onto the floor.

She couldn't go on like this anymore. She had to find a way to escape him.

Even if the aftermath was dire, she had to escape…

Su Minghua went to the kitchen. Jiang Ling was testing the temperature of the soup. He embraced her from behind, smiling warmly and saying:

"You've worked hard, my dear."

"Alright, Yueyue is home, don't be so playful," Jiang Ling replied with a smile, but didn't pull away.

"By the way, how did your conversation go?" she suddenly remembered, turning her head to ask him.

"Ah… let's take it slow," he replied with a look of helplessness.

"You've worked hard," Jiang Ling consoled him.

"She's my own daughter, it's not hard," he said gently, his tone filled with affection for Jiang Ling and Su Yue.

Jiang Ling smiled happily.

Su Yue forced herself to stand up. When she walked out of the study into the living room, she saw their backs. A wave of nausea washed over her. Enduring it, she quietly walked to the door, closed it, and then quickly ran down the stairs.

She hailed a taxi. After getting in, she finally felt a little safer. Then she gasped for air, and tears streamed down her cheeks, drop by drop.

The past scenes flashed through her mind like a montage. Every moment with Su Minghua felt like a foul phlegm in her heart, nauseating.

She admitted she was calculating, coaxing him and deceiving him to get everything she wanted. She herself worked incredibly hard, pushing herself more than others in everything she did.

Her goal was to be independent, to escape him.

But now, she wasn't sure. He held a high position; could she truly escape him?

She had seen his methods against his enemies, how subtly wicked and overwhelming they were.

Even if she graduated and got a job, would she be able to resist him?

Su Yue grew increasingly fearful, her heart pounding with anxiety. As the car drove over a large bridge, she told the driver to stop and got out.
