The director smiled and said, "It's nothing, just curious. It's Friday, so take the weekend off and return officially next Monday."
Chen Ziming's doubts grew, but he merely nodded and bid the director farewell.
Instead of going home, he made a call to Meng Hualan and went to her company.
Meng Hualan was genuinely surprised and pushed back an engagement to wait for him in her office.
The moment Chen Ziming entered, she broke into a relieved smile, gestured to the sofa for him, and then sat down herself.
"Finally remembered to look for your mother?" she asked, taking the tea from her secretary, her gaze flicking to him with a hint of displeasure.
"You make it sound like I'm a three-year-old," he replied with a slight frown and equal dissatisfaction.
Meng Hualan laughed. "To me, you'll always be a little baby. So, what important matter brings you to me specifically?"
Chen Ziming paused for a moment before saying, "Two things."
"During this mission, a senior sacrificed himself to save me. He has a daughter who just graduated from university and is looking for a job. Could you arrange something for her, either at your company or Lanshan Group? A good position, if possible."
Meng Hualan was startled, her attention caught by the first sentence. "The police officer who died, he did it to save you?"
"Yes."
"Are you alright?" She quickly moved to sit beside him, placing a hand on his shoulder, her eyes anxiously examining him.
"I'm fine." He looked somewhat helpless and displeased, pulling away from Meng Hualan.
Meng Hualan didn't believe him.
She had already suspected her son might be injured, which was why he had been recuperating at home for so long.
"Take off your shirt and let me see," her voice became stern.
"Mom, calm down," Chen Ziming said, amused, shaking his head. "I'm not taking off my shirt in your office."
"Chen Ziming!"
"Are you even listening to the rest of what I said?" He interrupted her directly.
Meng Hualan stopped, her eyes narrowing in thought. She replied, "Understood. Give me the girl's contact information, and I'll make the arrangements."
"Thank you, Mom." He seemed to breathe a sigh of relief, reached for his cup, and took a sip of water before continuing.
"The second thing, have Dad keep an eye on whether Su Minghua has been saying anything outside recently, such as his daughter dating Secretary Chen's son."
Chen Ziming was an exceptionally sharp individual, and the director's questions today had made him wary.
He didn't know the exact nature of the relationship between Su Minghua and Su Yue.
But he was certain that Su Yue disliked, even detested, Su Minghua. Therefore, he needed to prevent Su Minghua from secretly leveraging his family's influence.
Meng Hualan was surprised by his request but immediately understood his reasoning. She nodded and said, "No problem. However, you should really go home yourself. Grandma and Grandpa are very worried about you, and while your father doesn't say it out loud, he constantly asks about you in private."
Clearly, no one dared to tell them about Chen Ziming's injury.
He lowered his gaze, thought for a moment, and replied, "Alright, I'll bring Yue Yue with me the day after tomorrow."
Upon mentioning Su Yue, Meng Hualan's face lit up again. "Yes, bring her. Your father met her during the Mid-Autumn Festival and was very impressed."
After chatting about other matters with Meng Hualan, Chen Ziming finally left.
Once inside his car, he didn't immediately drive off. Instead, he pondered for a moment and made a phone call.
After confirming the arrangements with the other party, he started the car and drove away.
