Chapter 200 I Want to Always Be With You

Meng Hualan's voice was clearly a little anxious:

"Yueyue, are you with Chen Ziming?"

Su Yue immediately replied, "I'm with him, Auntie. He's taking a call right now."

On the other end of the phone, a long sigh of relief was heard, but she continued to ask nervously,

"Is he alright? Is he injured? I heard this mission was very dangerous, and one police officer was killed."

Su Yue's heart skipped a beat. She realized that the person who informed her mother might have concealed Chen Ziming's injuries to avoid worrying her.

However, as a mother, she wouldn't be completely at ease without multiple confirmations.

Su Yue decided to conceal it as well, and replied in a gentle tone:

"Don't worry, Auntie. He's just a little thin; everything else is fine."

Another long sigh of relief.

Meng Hualan's voice finally returned to its former gentleness and calmness:

"He called me this afternoon saying he was back. I wanted to see him, but he wouldn't let me, so I was a little worried."

"He wants you to be with him, so Auntie won't disturb him. If anything happens, please contact me anytime, okay?"

Su Yue quickly agreed.

Just as she thought Meng Hualan was about to hang up, the other party's hesitant voice came through again:

"Yueyue, Auntie has one more request."

Su Yue's hand instantly tightened around her phone, and she replied earnestly, "Please say it."

...

After hanging up, Su Yue felt an indescribable mix of emotions.

Meng Hualan hoped she would persuade Chen Ziming to report to the department soon and stop risking his life so recklessly.

This was a mother's selfish wish.

What Su Yue didn't say was that it was her selfish wish too.

She didn't want a hero; she just wanted a real, present embrace.

But how could she say such a thing, asking him to be a coward and flee prematurely out of fear?

Just as Su Yue was feeling troubled, a knock on the door suddenly sounded.

Startled, she quickly put away her phone and opened the door.

Chen Ziming stood there, his expression unreadable.

Su Yue became worried again and asked softly, "Is everything okay?"

"It's fine," he replied in a low voice, lowering his eyes.

"Good, then shall we go to sleep?" Su Yue asked tentatively.

Chen Ziming didn't answer immediately. He looked at her for another two seconds before slowly speaking.

Instead of answering her question, he asked back, "Baby isn't leaving, right?"

Su Yue was momentarily stunned, but she saw a familiar look in his eyes.

It was the same look he had when he mistakenly thought she was going to run away that night.

A little anxious, and a little pitiful.

She then realized that he probably hadn't found her after his call and had misunderstood again.

"How could I leave?" Su Yue managed a smile, while cautiously wrapping her arms around him and gently resting her head against his chest.

She could clearly feel his heart beating faster than usual.

Not hearing his reply, Su Yue, buried in his embrace, muffled her voice and coaxed him again, "I'm not leaving. I want to stay with you forever. I'm always here, okay?"

A response finally came from above her head:

"Okay."

The night was deep. After washing up, they lay down on the bed.

Su Yue deliberately grabbed another quilt, afraid that sleeping with him might accidentally touch his wounds.

At this moment, they lay facing each other, looking at each other by the soft bedside lamp.

A smile unconsciously appeared on her face.

"What is Baby smiling about?" Chen Ziming's mood seemed to have improved a little, and he asked softly.

"Nothing, I've just missed you for too long," Su Yue replied tenderly.

In the dim light, her eyes sparkled with captivating light, her gaze fixed on him filled with unconcealed affection.

His eyes, in response to this affection, seemed to ignite with a fiery glow.

Chen Ziming finally couldn't hold back. He leaned forward and kissed her sweet lips.

The gentle mountains, soft waters, and starry sky were all less than half as beautiful as your eyes.
