Hearing Xu Zimo’s words, the three ancestors, including Ancestor Heaven-Bearer, quickly nodded.
“Rest assured, my lord,” they said. “Lady Ke’er is the future young palace master of the Goddess Palace. We will definitely teach her well.”
“Good,” Xu Zimo said, then looked toward Gongsun Hongtian, who was standing nearby with a hopeful expression. He continued, “I don't want to get involved in the matter between the Heavenly Bond Cult and the Goddess Palace, but for Gu Yue’s sake, I can give you a hand.”
“Gu Mingxi is in your Goddess Palace, right?” Xu Zimo asked.
Gu Mingxi was Gu Yue’s mother.
“Yes,” Ancestor Heaven-Bearer answered without hesitation. “Mingxi was originally the palace master of this generation’s Goddess Palace. Unfortunately, she broke the rules by falling in love and giving birth to a daughter. So we confined her.”
“Let her out,” Xu Zimo said with a wave of his hand.
“Yes,” Ancestor Heaven-Bearer nodded.
He knew clearly that as long as Xu Zimo was willing to protect the Goddess Palace, any price was worth it.
“Alright, all of you can leave now. Remember what I said,” Xu Zimo said.
Watching everyone leave, Xu Zimo knew it was time for him to go.
...
At the exit of the Mortal Dust Palace, the monk Great Wisdom was waiting for him.
“Lord Xu,” Great Wisdom greeted with a light smile.
With a ringing sound, the saber Shadow Tyrant was unsheathed, and its endless blade intent swirled in midair.
The sharp edge of Shadow Tyrant was suddenly placed at Great Wisdom’s neck.
“Mister Xu, what’s the meaning of this?” Great Wisdom was stunned and asked in confusion.
“Who are you really?” Xu Zimo asked calmly.
The two had met back in Desolate City. The monk had premeditatedly waited for him and even helped him find the Nirvana-Fire Pearl. All of it seemed illogical.
After all, they didn’t know each other before that.
“Does it matter?” Great Wisdom chuckled. “Didn’t you get the Nirvana-Fire Pearl already?”
“It matters, alright.” Xu Zimo replied. “You get only one chance to answer, or I’ll kill you right here.”
“I helped you because I want to get on your big ship,” Great Wisdom thought for a moment and said.
“Be clearer,” Xu Zimo said.
“Our Universal Dharma Sect is well-versed in divination and the art of changing fate. We not only help people divine fortune and see their future, but can also predict individual destinies,” Great Wisdom said.
“The reason I sought you out was because before our sect’s old ancestor passed, he used the last of his life to forcibly open the River of Fate. He foresaw that you might bear the Heaven's Will in this life, and sent me to find and help you, so that I might one day be appointed a war general.”
“Your old ancestor can see my destiny?” Xu Zimo chuckled and shook his head.
He had long shifted his destiny from the River of Fate in the Primordial Heartlands to that of the God World.
No one could know his fate.
Not even the Universal Dharma Sect’s little ancestor, nor even the Heavenly Dao itself.
“No, our ancestor couldn’t see your destiny,” Great Wisdom quickly said. “But he could see my opportunity. He told me to wait in Desolate City, and that the person I met would change my fate.”
Hearing this, Xu Zimo fell into thought.
Fate was a complicated thing. Everyone’s destiny threads were interconnected.
Like a tree with countless branches and twigs, and countless leaves.
Each unique, yet interdependent.
“You want to be my War General?” Xu Zimo asked.
“Yes,” Great Wisdom said. “The old ancestor said this was my only chance to change my fate.”
“Fine. But you’re too weak,” Xu Zimo put away Shadow Tyrant and said calmly.
With his doubts resolved, Xu Zimo made his decision.
The two left the Mortal Dust Palace.
The realm surrounding the Mortal Dust Palace was sealed. One either had to be a powerful being who could forcibly break through, or rely on the palace’s formation tokens to exit.
They used the array token and left.
Their bodies felt the pressure as they jumped from one space to another.
After a long time traveling through space, they emerged above the Endless Sky Sea.
The sky was still covered in white snow, and the sea ice seemed thicker.
Heavy snowflakes buried the ocean, and the entire world was shrouded in white.
The fog around them was dense, and the boat they came on was nowhere to be found.
“Where are we going now?” Great Wisdom asked.
“Crown City. And I’ll save someone along the way,” Xu Zimo replied.
“The Ninelands Region then,” Great Wisdom, clearly familiar with the Middle Continent, nodded slightly.
He began divining the direction, since the fog was too thick for navigation.
“Southeast, but the distance is great,” Great Wisdom said after a long divination.
They were close to the Eastern Continent, but still tens of thousands of miles from the Middle Continent.
“No problem,” Xu Zimo waved his hand.
He released Chaos from his God World.
They climbed onto Chaos, who then began heading at full speed toward Crown City in the Ninelands Region.
As a God Beast of the Immortal Sovereign realm, Chaos’s speed was unmatched.
With each step crossing through space, his beastly aura surged as he charged southeast.
...
Even though Chaos was incredibly fast, Crown City was still far away. So Xu Zimo began cultivating on Chaos’s back.
He had already mastered the fourth form of the Ten Forms of Demon, Celestial Demon, and was now comprehending the fifth form of the Mortal Demon.
This battle art was more complex than any of the Primordial God-Scriptures he had learned before.
Even the Heaven-Unity Three-Gates God-Scripture and the Heaven-Shattering God-Scripture had not consumed so much time.
But the power was clearly on a different level.
After about a month of travel over the Endless Sky Sea, Xu Zimo finally arrived at the dock near Crown City.
He had departed from this dock previously, where he also encountered Driftwave Island and the Driftwave Immortal.
To avoid causing unnecessary panic, Xu Zimo stored Chaos away before reaching the city.
The two arrived at the dock and headed directly toward Qin Mansion.
Although some time had passed, Crown City didn’t seem to have changed much.
The streets bustled with crowds and lively activity.
The two weaved through the busy crowd, heading for the Qin residence.
Midway, because of the crowds, Great Wisdom accidentally bumped into a man walking toward them.
The man reeked of alcohol, staggering as he walked, clearly half-drunk.
He wore a green robe and looked delicate and refined.
“Senior Brother Luo, are you alright?” a group of people behind the green-robed man quickly helped him up.
“Are you blind?” someone in the group shouted at Great Wisdom. “Didn’t you see our Senior Brother Luo? Watch where you're going.”
“I already tried to avoid him. He ran into me,” Great Wisdom replied calmly.
