Under the guidance of Weng Qianxiang, Yan Shouyi and others continued to delve deeper into the dungeon.
The dungeon of Longhu Mountain was intentionally designed to be winding and complex, aiming to disorient those unfamiliar with its layout. However, this indirectly increased the difficulty for Yan Shouyi and his companions to provide support.
After wandering in the dungeon for about ten minutes, Weng Qianxiang suddenly stopped, swallowed, and said, "Uh... I need to discuss something with you all. Please don't be angry, okay?"
Liu Yiren sighed and directly addressed Weng Qianxiang's unspoken worry: "You're lost."
"Ahem, you noticed?" Weng Qianxiang asked, a mixture of fear and guilt in his voice.
Liu Yiren replied, "You've already led us through this intersection twice."
Luo Ning looked at Yan Shouyi, seemingly seeking his opinion. Yan Shouyi spoke, "I noticed when we first passed here. I didn't say anything because I wanted to see if Weng Qianxiang was truly lost or deliberately taking us on a detour to delay us."
Weng Qianxiang felt a chill of fear, finally understanding the depth of Yan Shouyi's cunning. It seemed as though doing nothing was also a form of testing. Fortunately, he was genuinely lost, so his conscience was clear.
"I was fleeing in a panic before, and coupled with the dungeon's complex terrain, it's only natural not to remember..." Weng Qianxiang quickly made excuses for himself.
"Forget it. Don't lead anymore. If we let you continue, we'll be waiting until the cows come home."
Yan Shouyi turned to Luo Ning and asked, "Luo Ning, you're most sensitive to corpses and blood. Use your abilities to find out where there are dead people."
In truth, there were dead people everywhere in the dungeon. However, as a corpse herder, Luo Ning could even sense the location of the freshest corpses, and this ability now served as a guide for Yan Shouyi and his companions.
Luo Ning closed his eyes and sensed for a moment, then began to lead the way.
The group followed Luo Ning, and finally took a different path. Before long, they made a different discovery! Outside a prison cell ahead, more than a dozen people had died. The most striking among them was a twenty-eight constellation member wearing a mask.
Weng Qianxiang exclaimed, "I recognize the other people around him. They were all guys imprisoned in the dungeon before!"
Longhu Mountain's dungeon mostly held extremely vicious individuals. Weng Qianxiang, being a con artist, considered himself to be on a different path from them and therefore wasn't familiar with these people. Seeing them dead, Weng Qianxiang even felt a sense of righteous satisfaction and clapped his hands gleefully.
Yan Shouyi stepped forward, removed the man's mask, and searched his person. As expected, he found a twenty-eight constellation token that represented his identity. The token was made of white jade, with the characters "Bai Hu" engraved on the back, and "Lou Jin Gou" inscribed prominently on the front.
"This fellow is Lou Jin Gou from the Seven Mansions of the White Tiger," Yan Shouyi stated.
Long Feicheng sneered, "What a disgrace, choosing to be a dog for Xin Xuan Shan."
"I heard He Zhijing and Chen Tang mention before that Chu Liang and Guan Lao San were both members of the Seven Mansions of the White Tiger. This indicates that the Lou Jin Gou in front of us must also be quite capable. How could he have died here?"
As Yan Shouyi spoke, he removed the man's mask, revealing the face of a middle-aged man. Everyone stepped forward to examine him, shaking their heads in recognition. They searched Lou Jin Gou's belongings thoroughly but found nothing that could prove his sect affiliation.
Fortunately, just as Yan Shouyi and his companions found nothing, Luo Ning made a discovery: "These dozen or so people were all bitten to death by some ferocious beast."
Upon hearing this, Yan Shouyi pushed Lou Jin Gou's head aside and indeed saw a shocking wound.
"Could there be some guardian beast in this Longhu Mountain dungeon?" Long Feicheng couldn't help but say. "I hope this 'big shot' can distinguish friend from foe, and doesn't decide to take care of us as well later on..."
Liu Yiren stated with certainty, "There are no beasts kept in the Longhu Mountain dungeon."
"Then how did these people die?" Wang Jiwang asked, puzzled.
Just as everyone was at a loss, a sound of hurried footsteps approached! Before the group could hide, the approaching party had already appeared!
Yan Shouyi's expression changed. If they encountered Kang Jinlong and his gang, they would have no way to escape! Upon closer inspection, everyone's face fell, for the newcomers were none other than Kang Jinlong and his entourage! Besides Kang Jinlong, Jiang Chengan, and Lu Kui, their group also included three members of the Seven Mansions of the White Tiger, as well as over a dozen prisoners from the Longhu Mountain dungeon!
Yan Shouyi never expected that the two sides would meet in such a sudden and direct manner! Kang Jinlong and his group were clearly equally surprised. The two parties were separated by more than ten meters, and neither dared to move rashly, leading to an awkward standoff.
The next second, Yan Shouyi and Kang Jinlong shouted in unison, "Run! Hurry and run!"
The next second, everyone froze again. After running only a few steps, they all stopped. Long Feicheng and the others couldn't understand why Kang Jinlong's group didn't attack them upon seeing them, but instead chose to flee. Kang Jinlong and his group also couldn't fathom the purpose of Yan Shouyi's group's appearance. The situation became awkward once more.
Finally, Kang Jinlong gritted his teeth and was the first to flee in a certain direction, and the others quickly followed suit. This left Yan Shouyi and his group standing there, bewildered.
Long Feicheng was confused, "What... what was that just now?"
Wang Jiwang was also dumbfounded, "I was about to ask you."
"There's only one possibility for Kang Jinlong and his group to run away..." Liu Yiren said with a strange expression. "Could it be that they encountered someone even more terrifying in the dungeon, got scared, aborted their mission, and fled for their lives?"
"If you say so..." Luo Ning looked in the direction Kang Jinlong had fled and said, "If we don't run now, are we going to encounter the guy that even Kang Jinlong and his group are afraid of?"
As soon as the words fell, there was indeed movement ahead. The approaching party was already close at hand. It was pointless to escape now, so everyone widened their eyes, staring intently ahead.
They saw a huge black shadow in front of them, constantly shrinking in the firelight. The creature was on all fours, clearly not human, and its movements perfectly matched the characteristics of a beast! This was the one that had killed Lou Jin Gou!
The dungeon was silent. Under everyone's gaze—
An old yellow dog ran out, baring its teeth and sticking out its tongue, panting!
Everyone was stunned. This? Just an old yellow dog?! This was what Kang Jinlong and his group had desperately tried to avoid?!
Suddenly, Yan Shouyi burst into laughter, startling the others.
Liu Yiren chided, "What are you laughing about all of a sudden?"
"I finally know what Kang Jinlong and the others were running from!" Yan Shouyi laughed. "They should indeed be afraid!"
"Afraid of what, just this old yellow dog?" Wang Jiwang asked, bewildered.
Yan Shouyi didn't answer. Instead, he waved at the old yellow dog in the distance and shouted, "Lao Huang! How did you get here?!"
This old yellow dog was the one kept by the Dog Taoist! It could only be here for one reason—the Dog Taoist was also here!!
