When Shi Ran saw her, Meng Jingwei forced a smile and walked over, "Why are you still up so late?"
Shi Ran glanced at Tang Si and was startled to see his face ashen, his cold eyes fixed unblinkingly on Kang Xiaolu, his displeasure evident.
*This guy, could he have misunderstood something?*
She thought to herself but still walked up to Meng Jingwei and hugged her, "It's so good to see you back safe."
"Hiss, puff..."
The hug from Shi Ran touched Meng Jingwei's wound, causing her to gasp in pain.
"What's wrong?"
Tang Si and Shi Ran asked in unison.
Meng Jingwei then said, "I got injured this afternoon."
"Why didn't you say you were injured?"
Tang Si stepped forward, pulled Shi Ran aside, and stood before Meng Jingwei, examining her from head to toe. He then noticed that the color of her left arm's black sleeve was different, and there was a distinct tear.
He frowned, giving Meng Jingwei a meaningful look, and once again marveled at her incredible endurance.
*Despite being seriously wounded, she fought alongside him this afternoon, and he hadn't even noticed.*
"Shi Ran, go get the medicine box," he instructed.
Shi Ran nodded, "Okay. You sit with Sister Wei for a bit. I'll get the medicine box. Brother Xiaolu, quickly pour some water for Sister Wei and Si."
As she instructed, she rummaged through the cabinet at the bar for the medical kit.
Meng Jingwei waved her hand, "It's a small matter. Kang Xiaolu, stop pouring water. Go tell someone to go find Ye's whereabouts."
Her expression was serious, her face clouded with worry. Kang Xiaolu naturally understood the gravity of the situation, "Alright, wait a moment, I'll go upstairs and call for someone now."
While Kang Xiaolu went upstairs to summon people, Shi Ran had already brought the medicine box. Tang Si used scissors to cut open Meng Jingwei's clothes, revealing her wound, and only then did Tang Si realize how severe it was.
"If Second Brother knew you were this badly hurt, he'd probably skin me alive," Tang Si joked.
Meng Jingwei glanced at the wound, "That's if he can even show himself to us."
"What's wrong with President Qing?" Shi Ran asked, sensing something was amiss.
Afterward, she received a warning look from Tang Si and immediately fell silent, sitting quietly on the side without another word.
Tang Si took the anesthetic from the medicine box and injected it into Meng Jingwei's wound before skillfully removing the bullet.
Suturing, applying medicine, and bandaging, everything was done swiftly and seamlessly.
Because of the anesthetic, Meng Jingwei didn't feel pain, only complimenting Tang Si, "As expected of Lan Cheng's genius doctor, very skilled. It's a shame you're not practicing medicine anymore."
"I actually enjoyed being on the operating table, but after I started practicing, the patient-doctor relationship, as well as the commercialization of hospitals, made me somewhat disgusted, so I changed careers."
Perhaps to distract Meng Jingwei and stop her from worrying too much about Qing Muye, Tang Si recounted his past experiences to her.
Before long, people from Yipinju began to wake up and come downstairs.
Meng Jingwei informed everyone about Qing Muye's situation, and they all went out to investigate.
Everyone who appeared at Yipinju was no ordinary person.
Shi Ran boiled some water and placed a cup of tea in front of Meng Jingwei, "Sister Wei, you should drink some water first. We can talk about anything else after daylight tomorrow."
She then placed a cup of tea in front of Tang Si, "You drink some too."
"Mhm," Tang Si responded, picking up the cup and finding it too hot. "Do you have warm water?"
"Yes."
Shi Ran nodded and ran off to pour two cups of warm water, placing them before both of them.
