“What do you guys want for lunch?” Zhao Wuyan changed the subject and waved to a waiter.
The waiter brought over the menus, and Zhao Wuyan considerately handed them out.
She had instinctively reached to give one to Tang Si, but a sudden thought struck her, and she passed it to Shi Ran instead. “Shi Ran, see if there’s anything you’d like to eat.”
“I’m fine with anything,” she replied.
“Alright then…” Zhao Wuyan didn’t say much else and ordered some Western dishes for them.
The four of them sat together, eating and chatting, and the atmosphere was quite harmonious.
The other three felt relaxed, but Shi Ran felt as if she were sitting on pins and needles. Although nothing significant had happened, she still felt like she was in a battlefield.
The meal left her feeling as uncomfortable as if she had swallowed a fishbone.
When lunch finally ended, Shi Ran breathed a sigh of relief and smiled at Huo Xiaohua. “Mr. Huo, Miss Zhao, I have to go to the hospital, so I won’t be able to accompany you any further.”
She had ordered food on her phone and needed to pick it up before taking it to the hospital to be with Yuan Wei’s mother.
Upon hearing this, Tang Si’s handsome face tensed, and his expression turned rather unpleasant.
“Alright, go ahead with your business. My brother and I have some things to attend to as well, so we should be going,” Zhao Wuyan said.
“Are you going to the First Hospital?”
Tang Si asked deliberately.
Shi Ran nodded. “Yes, I am.”
“Perfect, you can give me a ride. I have some matters to discuss with Dean Li there,” Tang Si said.
“Si Bing, Shi Ran is going to the hospital for something. I’ll drive you instead,” Zhao Wuyan was unwilling to give them any opportunity for private time.
Zhao Wuyan had driven Tang Si when they arrived earlier, so it was understandable that he wanted a ride.
However, he absolutely could not get a ride from Shi Ran.
“Don’t you have some business with your brother? You go and take care of it. I’ll contact you after I’m done,” Tang Si replied coldly.
This one sentence effectively silenced Zhao Wuyan.
Zhao Wuyan’s hands, which rested on her knees, clenched slightly. Though dissatisfied, she didn’t dare to show it too obviously and could only force a smile. “Shi Ran, I’ll have to trouble you then. Si Bing, he just likes to trouble people. Please don’t mind him too much.”
“Um…” Shi Ran really wanted to refuse. “I still need to pick up my food. How about you ask Shi…”
“It won’t be a problem,” Tang Si seemed to know what Shi Ran was about to say and cut off her exit with his words.
Shi Ran pouted and said nothing.
However, Zhao Wuyan noticed Shi Ran’s resistance towards Tang Si and secretly breathed a sigh of relief.
The four of them got up to leave. Huo Xiaohua paid the bill.
After bidding them farewell, Huo Xiaohua and Zhao Wuyan left together.
Watching their car drive away, the forced smile on Shi Ran’s face instantly vanished. She turned back, her cold eyes meeting Tang Si’s. “Oh, I just remembered, something urgent came up at the company. If Young Master Tang still wants to go to the hospital, I’m afraid you’ll have to take a taxi yourself. I’m truly sorry.”
Thinking of the relationship between Tang Si and Zhao Wuyan, and remembering what had happened yesterday, Shi Ran felt that Tang Si was a fickle person, which made her feel disgusted.
Having said that, Shi Ran didn’t give Tang Si a chance to speak and turned to walk directly towards her own car.
Just as she was about to start the car and leave, the passenger door was pulled open, and Tang Si got in.
“I’m not in a hurry.”
The man said nonchalantly as he fastened his seatbelt.
It was as if he hadn’t understood Shi Ran’s intention to refuse him just moments ago.
Shi Ran froze, her gaze towards him extremely complex. She frowned, pursed her red lips, and after considerable hesitation, finally turned off the car.
“Young Master Tang, since you’ve already reconciled with your… ex-girlfriend, we shouldn’t be in contact anymore.”
She believed that a certain distance should be maintained between men and women.
