Tang Si’s eyes widened in astonishment. He waved his hands frantically, signaling Han Yu not to betray him.
“I don’t know where Tang Si is, but there’s something I want to ask you. Did you have Shi Ran beaten?”
“Uh… heh heh, is that so? How would I know?”
“Zhao Wuyan, your relationship with Xiao Si is personal, and I have no right to interfere. But as a police officer, I must warn you about this. Just a reminder, Shi Ran is good friends with Brother Er’s woman. Don’t get any wrong ideas.”
After Han Yu finished speaking, there was a brief silence from the other end of the line, so Han Yu hung up.
His cold eyes swept over Tang Si. “Handle your own romantic entanglements yourself. You’d better give Meng Jingwei an explanation.”
“You mean Little Pepper? I’m not going.”
Tang Si dared not meet Meng Jingwei, fearing he would be beaten soundly, which he could not withstand.
But sensing Han Yu’s displeasure, he immediately caved. “How about this: you ask Shi Ran later if she’s with Little Pepper. When they’re not together, let me know. I’ll personally go to apologize to Xiao Ran Ran.”
The two of them reached a happy agreement.
After Meng Jingwei took Shi Ran away from the police station, she first took her to a clinic to get some medicine, then sent Shi Ran home. She stayed with her for the afternoon, leaving only after dark.
After some comforting, Shi Ran felt much better.
Qing Muye also arranged for people from Yipin Ju to bring Shi Ran dinner. Looking at the table full of lavish dishes, Shi Ran’s bad mood was instantly healed.
Just as the Yipin Ju server left, there was a knock on the living room door.
She got up and walked to the door, asking, “Who is it?”
“Me.”
A familiar male voice sounded.
Shi Ran peered through the peephole and saw it was Tang Si, then she opened the door. “Young Master Tang, why are you here?”
Tang Si, carrying a pile of health supplements, walked in and grinned at Shi Ran. “Xiao Ran Ran, I’m truly sorry, really, it’s all my fault that you got hurt. I’ve come specially to apologize.”
As he spoke, his gaze fell on Shi Ran’s face. Seeing the scratches on her delicate cheeks and the bruises on her lips, he felt a pang of guilt.
He felt Zhao Wuyan was being too unreasonable.
Shi Ran looked at Tang Si carrying the large bags and packages, and nervously pursed her lips, shaking her head repeatedly. “I… I’m fine.”
He, the young master of the Tang family, coming to apologize for this matter, she accepted his gesture.
What surprised her more was the unexpected visit.
Tang Si stepped forward, closed the door, placed the items on the ground, then turned and reached out to pinch Shi Ran’s face, tilting her cheek to the side. He clicked his tongue. “Tsk tsk, they hit so hard. Damn it.”
His slender, fair hands held her chin, and he frowned, carefully examining Shi Ran’s face. As if to get a clearer look, he leaned in closer.
Shi Ran clearly felt his closeness, and even the warm breath coming towards her. She immediately tensed, biting her lip, her fair cheeks flushing, and even the roots of her ears felt hot.
In an instant, her heart pounded, and her breathing faltered.
“I… I… I’m fine.”
Seemingly unaccustomed to Tang Si’s closeness, she pushed his hand away. “Young Master Tang, I really am fine.”
“That’s good.”
Although Tang Si had a carefree personality, and despite not noticing Shi Ran’s slightly flickering gaze, he could still see her peach-like cheeks flushed with an unnatural redness.
Shi Ran was wearing casual cartoon pajamas and a pink little rabbit headband, her hair styled in two braids. She looked exceptionally petite and adorable.
Having been accustomed to seeing Shi Ran in professional attire daily, seeing her in this outfit for the first time, Tang Si was momentarily dazed. “Xiao Ran Ran, you suit the innocent look better. You look even better without makeup.”
“Ah?” Shi Ran looked down at her pajamas and quickly explained, “I took a shower after I came back, changed my clothes, and took off my makeup.”
She had taken a shower after being beaten, and then removed her makeup to apply medicine to her face.
