Chapter 1428 Encountering the Devil

The gunshots were exceptionally dense.

Meng Jingwei pressed herself against the ground, moving along the wall to the floor-to-ceiling window.

The large floor-to-ceiling window had solid walls at both corners, which could effectively block bullets.

She didn't make a move, but quietly waited for an opportunity.

At this moment, the bedroom door opened, and Lu Yanming walked out.

He had taken off the black and white plaid gown he was wearing, and his waist was wrapped with white cloth. With just a glance, Meng Jingwei could tell the white cloth was strips of a torn bedsheet.

Behind Lu Yanming was Shen Liannuo, both holding guns.

Just as Meng Jingwei looked at them, gunshots rang out again outside the window. Perhaps due to severe damage, the cracked glass shattered and fell, and a gust of cold wind blew in through the window, chilling them to the bone.

The person hiding above the window remained unseen, blindly firing, putting them in a very passive situation.

Lu Yanming gestured to Meng Jingwei. Meng Jingwei understood instantly, nodded, and then fired a few shots towards the outside of the floor-to-ceiling window.

Taking advantage of the chaotic gunfire, Lu Yanming walked to the bedroom door and stood opposite Qing Muye.

Qing Muye was reloading his magazine. He glanced at the wound on Lu Yanming's waist and raised an eyebrow, as if asking, "Are you okay?"

The two good brothers had been through hails of bullets together and showed no great emotional fluctuation.

Qing Muye shrugged helplessly and smiled, "Sorry for dragging you into this." He then took a cigarette from his pocket and tossed it to Lu Yanming.

Lu Yanming took the cigarette, put it in his mouth, and lit it with a click of his lighter. "Damn, it hurts." He grinned, wincing in pain.

When injured, smoking a cigarette could help distract from the pain, making it less severe.

The two stood leaning against the wall, in a stalemate with the group outside.

The people outside couldn't get in, and they couldn't get out.

However, Qing Muye had already contacted people outside for reinforcements.

Unsure of the situation outside, they didn't dare to rush out; waiting was the best solution.

"You're short on bullets; taking a couple more won't hurt," Qing Muye teased quietly.

Lu Yanming shot him a glare, "Are you a devil?" He couldn't help but laugh, "Luckily you were prescient, or we might die here today."

The so-called 'prescience' was that Qing Muye had asked him to carry a handgun before coming, likely knowing that in Country C, it was Antina's territory and they could encounter danger at any moment.

Similarly, Meng Jingwei and Shen Liannuo also had their 'gear.'

However, the gear was prepared for them by Daisy Tini on the day of their arrival at the airport, and they had been carrying it all along.

They were not surprised by this situation; everything was within expectation.

Meng Jingwei, nestled in the corner, took out her phone and sent a message to Daisy Tini: "Save me."

Just two simple words, no further preamble, sent directly.

Shen Liannuo squatted beside Meng Jingwei, looking at the two words she had typed, and commented, "Are you sure texting her will work?"

"We won't know if it works unless we try."

Her intention wasn't really to seek help from Daisy Tini, but to use it as an opportunity to probe.

After all, Daisy Tini's appearance was very suspicious.

"That's true," Shen Liannuo nodded, and then suddenly smiled, "It's been so long since I've had this much excitement. It reminds me of when we were in the Hidden Clan."

After arriving in Lancheng and experiencing the beauty of a peaceful era, there were no such intense and thrilling scenes.

She was practically eager to try.

As they spoke, Meng Jingwei looked up at Qing Muye not far away and was surprised to find that the man was also looking at her.
