Chapter 1055 Bad for the Child

For a moment, all eyes fell on Shi Ran.

Shi Ran, feeling like she was sitting on pins and needles, was in agony.

Looking at the handsome men and beautiful women before her, all of whom were exceptionally good-looking, she knew she had a good foundation, but the knife wound on her face had destroyed her confidence.

She glanced helplessly at the people sitting opposite her, then dejectedly lowered her head. Just as she was about to say something with her lips slightly parted, she heard Meng Jingwei say from across the table, "Tang Si, Shi Ran doesn't look comfortable. Take her up to rest first. I'll have someone make some of her favorite dishes and send them up later."

As a woman herself, Meng Jingwei naturally understood what Shi Ran was thinking.

"Okay, as the little chili says."

Tang Si put down his chopsticks, took Shi Ran's hand, and said, "Ran Bao'er, come on, let's go up and rest for a bit."

"Mhm."

Shi Ran nodded, stood up, and said, "Excuse me, I'm feeling a bit unwell. Please enjoy your meal, I'm going up to rest."

Everyone present understood, so they naturally said nothing.

The two left the dining room and went upstairs. Zhao Wuyan felt extremely awkward, not knowing whether to leave or stay. Finally, in the awkward atmosphere, she ate her dinner and left.

When everyone had dispersed, only Meng Jingwei and Qing Muye remained in the living room.

Meng Jingwei sighed, "Shi Ran cannot be stimulated in her current state. Tell the household staff not to let Zhao Wuyan come here again."

She was speaking to Qing Muye.

However, after speaking, she received no response.

Meng Jingwei tilted her head and glanced at Qing Muye, only to find him staring straight ahead, his gaze vacant.

"A Ye? A Ye?"

She reached out and patted Qing Muye's shoulder. The man, who had been lost in thought, snapped back to reality, "What is it?"

"What do you mean 'what is it'? It's I who should be asking you what's wrong." Meng Jingwei smiled helplessly. "What were you thinking about? Do you have something on your mind?"

Meng Jingwei rarely saw Qing Muye so absent-minded.

"It's nothing, I was just thinking about Tang Si's matters."

"I was just saying that. I said Shi Ran can't be stimulated, so don't let her come again." Meng Jingwei repeated.

Qing Muye nodded, "I'll remind them tomorrow."

"There's something else," Meng Jingwei said, sitting cross-legged on the sofa, leaning her head against Qing Muye's shoulder. "I want to resume work and go to the office starting tomorrow."

Qing Muye raised his hand and put his arm around Meng Jingwei's shoulder, letting her lean on him, his fingers playing with her dark, lustrous hair. "Didn't you say you were going back to your hometown to see your parents?"

"I forgot to tell you, they're coming to Lancheng the day after tomorrow." Meng Jingwei smiled knowingly. "When I left, I told my parents I was in closed training and couldn't contact them. When we returned to Lancheng, I video-called them again, and they believed me completely. So, I thought I shouldn't appear too eager, lest they worry too much."

"That makes sense," Qing Muye said, pleased by Meng Jingwei's thoughtful nature.

"You should be going to work tomorrow, and I should be working too," Qing Muye said, leaning back against the sofa. "It's been a few days since we returned to the country, and some matters can no longer be delayed."

As he said this, a fleeting light flashed in Qing Muye's dark eyes. He glanced at the woman leaning on his shoulder and, after some hesitation, said, "A Wei, I think I want Yi Yi and Yi Hang to live in a different place."

Upon hearing this, Meng Jingwei sat bolt upright. "Why?"

"Because..."

Qing Muye thought for a moment and explained, "There's still a fierce battle to be fought with Qing Sihui. He is cunning, deceitful, despicable, and shameless. I'm worried he might do something harmful to the children."

In reality, he was worried about Qing Kangyu.
