A little scoundrel

Chapter 396 The Two Saint Kings Retreat Without a Fight

The earth-shattering explosions left the numerous elders in the Dwarf chieftain's grand court stunned. Such decisive, even brazen, power was unlike anything they had ever witnessed.

The new chieftain, Qite, was the first to react. He loudly commanded, "Pass down the order! All sub-chieftains are to immediately lead their people to gather at the Arie Plains in the east. Our entire race is heading east; the time to regain our freedom has arrived!"

"Yes, Chieftain!!" The elders, their initial shock giving way to excitement.

Within the dwarf living quarters, every ten thousand people had a sub-chieftain to lead them; these were the leaders responsible for the daily management of ordinary tribesmen. The elders, however, made decisions on the larger matters.

Chief Qite's command quickly reached the sub-chieftains, and through them, the order was relayed. Amidst the turmoil of the giant city of Elys, dwarves began to emerge, their exodus vast and blatant.

At this moment, the demons had no time to concern themselves with the dwarves. For within the city, a terrifying presence, akin to the god of death, was wreaking havoc and slaughtering demons!

"Boom, boom, boom!!!!"

In the sky, a scene that terrified the demons reappeared. Fireballs, like miniature suns, rained down from above. The terrifying explosions wreaked havoc, destroying buildings in the city, and countless demons were consumed by the rampant flames.

"Fearless demon warriors, do not be afraid! The Holy Kings gravely injured him in the last great battle; he is now at the end of his strength! Let us all attack together, and our two Holy Kings will be here momentarily!" a Demon King, leading the demon army, bellowed to rally the spirits of his warriors.

"We have tens of millions of soldiers; why should we fear one man? Let's attack him together and wear him down!" another Demon King led his troops into battle.

Following their lead, more Demon Kings began to rally the demon warriors, holding their ground and unleashing their most powerful magic with suppressed fury towards Bai Ye.

Bai Ye, standing atop a tall building, watched the torrent of magic spells descending from the sky with an imperturbable calm.

He raised his hand and unleashed his magic. Distant fire walls rose, and near him, fiery wheels materialized.

Boom, boom, boom!!!

This time, it was Bai Ye's turn to be bombarded. Wave after wave of magic slammed against his defenses, and his figure was instantly engulfed in a terrifying barrage of magical explosions.

"Boom, boom, boom!!!"

Countless demon warriors, having expended all their magic, unleashed their ultimate, hidden techniques.

After an unknown period, the area where Bai Ye stood had been reduced to ruins. The air was thick with the residual energies of various magics – light, lightning, darkness, poison...

"How is it?"

"Is he dead?"

The demon warriors gazed expectantly, their faces etched with tension and fear. They had never imagined that the proud and powerful demon race would one day find themselves surrounding and attacking a single individual with millions of warriors.

"Roar roar!!!"

Amidst the massive magical explosion, a golden fire dragon surged forth, directly charging at a Demon King who had been instigating the attack.

The Demon King's eyes widened in disbelief. He used all his might to defend and attack, but the fire dragon moved as if through empty space, swallowing him whole before continuing its assault on the large numbers of demon warriors behind him.

Boom!!!

A terrifying mushroom cloud erupted. The giant city of Elys gained another large open space and a massive crater...

Almost simultaneously, elegant fire tornadoes appeared, sweeping through the giant city. Horrifying black flames also began to erupt from the ground... The once prosperous giant city was instantly transformed into a living inferno.

"He's not dead! He's still alive!"

"What kind of terrifying existence is he? Why is he so strong?"

"He's simply invincible! Who said he was gravely injured?"

"Ah! Help me!"

"Severely injured? Liars! This is what you call severely injured? I hate you allllllllllll—"

"Where are the Holy Kings? Where are Lord Adorf and Lord Ofustein? Why haven't they appeared for so long?"

...

"I don't care anymore! I'm getting out of here! Whatever honor or rewards, let someone else have them!"

"I don't want to be a martyr! My succubus wife is waiting for me back home!"

After wave after wave of demons fell, the demon warriors finally lost all fighting spirit, fleeing the city in large numbers.

As for the ordinary demons, they had already fled during the chaotic magical battle. The city gates were crowded, and in their desperate attempt to escape, they began to bombard the magnificent city walls they themselves had built.

Seeing the vast tide of demons in a routed retreat, Bai Ye ceased his massive magical onslaught and began a more localized bombardment.

His attention, however, turned towards a tall building situated near the edge of the Sacred Lake. He sensed the presence of the two Holy Kings, Adorf and Ofustein.

"It's still just him alone! But why has he recovered so quickly? There's no sign of weakness at all?" Ofustein observed the chaotic city, his expression grave and complex.

Adorf said sternly, "He is the strongest in this other world! That mysterious spatial power user might just be his subordinate. His feigned weakness earlier was likely an attempt to lure us out for a major battle?"

Hiss~ Ofustein drew a sharp breath.

"Then why is he acting so brazenly now? Is he trying to draw us out? Should we go out?"

Adorf glanced at him. With Ofustein's question, it was clear he was already considering retreat.

Suddenly, Ofustein's expression changed. He looked out the window, a look of terror on his face. "This is bad! He's coming for us."

Adorf abruptly looked up. He saw a figure streaking through the giant city, flames erupting wherever he passed, engulfing all buildings and streets.

Adorf slowly drew the demonic artifact at his waist, preparing for battle. Then, with a bang on the window behind him, Ofustein burst out, transforming into a giant beetle and flying out of the city at high speed.

He had fled.

"Damn it! Coward!!!" Adorf cursed, seeing Bai Ye rapidly approaching. He hurriedly turned and leaped out the window, his figure flashing to leave afterimages as he vanished into the streets.

Boom!!!

Bai Ye obliterated their building with a fireball and looked in two directions. Both had fled in opposite directions, daring not to fight him. Their speed of escape was even surprising to him.

To catch up now would require him to use his spatial powers, but doing so might expose secrets about several identities.

In the end, Bai Ye did not pursue them. He unleashed a round of magic to destroy the giant city, accumulating a wave of fame, and then headed east to rendezvous with the dwarf tribes.
