The ferocious spirit lunged at Mo Ting, and I raised my peach wood sword, slashing at its back.
Perhaps sensing danger, it abruptly dodged sideways.
My sword missed its mark.
However, it did resolve Mo Ting's crisis.
The evading ferocious spirit turned its head sharply.
Its pitch-black eyes glared at me, emitting black smoke:
"Seeking death!"
Looking into its eyes, I felt an icy chill sweep through my entire body.
My limbs felt as if they were filled with lead, and I was frozen in place.
The evil spirit opened its massive mouth and lunged to bite my neck.
Seeing that gaping maw filled with sharp teeth, I broke out in a cold sweat.
I wanted to dodge, but my body felt impossibly heavy, making it difficult to move.
Just as I thought I was about to be bitten by the ferocious spirit.
The young female ghost, Li Lingling, rushed forward in a frenzy:
"Don't hurt big brother!"
She leaped up, landing on the ferocious spirit's back, and desperately yanked its neck backward.
This made it lose its balance, saving me from danger.
But Lingling was torn off by the evil spirit and thrown aside like trash.
She slammed heavily against the wall.
It then said menacingly:
"You brat, I'll eat you later."
On the other side, Mo Ting had regained his footing.
He suddenly attacked from the side, swinging his sword down.
It landed precisely on the spirit's crown.
With a mournful cry, the evil spirit's black blood splattered, flowing down its face.
He followed up with a kick, knocking the evil spirit to the ground.
The leaden sensation in my body vanished at that moment.
The evil spirit lay on the ground.
Apart from emitting black energy all over, its body was still.
Seeing this, Mo Ting and I exchanged surprised glances. Was it over?
"Disabled with one sword?"
Mo Ting himself could hardly believe it.
Lingling, who was lying on the ground, lifted her head and stammered:
"He... he's still alive..."
Hearing that it was still alive, I raised my peach wood sword, intending to finish it.
But a gust of chilling wind suddenly swept through the room.
It blew towards me with a "whoosh," forcing me to retreat.
At the same time, it slowly got up from the ground.
Its body emitted a more intense black energy.
There was a bloody gash on its head, from which black blood continuously flowed.
The black blood trickled down its face, dripping onto the ground with a "sizzling" sound, turning into black smoke and dissipating the next second.
It grinned wickedly at us, seemingly excited:
"Interesting. Now, my appetite is whetted!"
As it spoke, it raised both hands, cupped its own head,
And then gave a sudden twist.
With a "crack," the evil spirit snapped its own neck in front of us.
Immediately after, the evil spirit yanked its head clean off, holding it in its hands.
The disembodied head continued to gasp, its tongue flicking.
Its pitch-black eyes sent shivers down our spines.
This horrifying sight sent chills down Mo Ting's and my backs.
Our hearts pounded wildly; it was too terrifying.
Before we could recover from the shocking scene.
The evil spirit, holding its own head, suddenly spoke:
"Tonight, I will savor your flesh and blood."
Before its voice faded, the evil spirit hurled the head it was holding at us.
The severed head wore a contorted expression, its mouth wide open, revealing a mouthful of sharp teeth.
It was utterly ghastly.
Though filled with fear, seeing the ghost head flying towards us,
I raised my peach wood sword and swung it down, cleaving the ghost head.
With a "bang," the severed head exploded.
The next second, I saw the exploded head disintegrate into a shower of straw.
My pupils dilated, revealing a trace of surprise:
"An immortal straw puppet?"
This was the same situation as in the haunted building last time.
The mother-child evil spirit killed there had also turned into shattered straw.
Could this ferocious spirit also have been "cultivated" by someone?
However, although the spirit's head was shattered, its body remained unharmed and still emitted a "cackling" laugh.
"What... what is this? Its head is gone, but it's still alive?"
Mo Ting gasped in horror, staring at the laughing body of the evil spirit.
I frowned, suddenly recalling something I had read in a book at the shop.
About a type of ghost that could separate its head from its body.
I quickly said:
"This ferocious spirit might be a headless ghost."
"A... a headless ghost?"
Mo Ting sucked in a cold breath, exclaiming in surprise.
A headless ghost, due to its lack of a head, was considered a particularly vicious entity.
The headless ferocious spirit then grabbed its clothes with both hands and ripped them apart.
With a "shrieking" sound, its tattered grey clothes were torn to shreds, revealing its bare upper body.
When we saw its upper body, we were utterly terrified, our entire bodies numb.
Its torso was covered, densely packed, with countless eyes and mouths.
They were crowded together, in a chaotic, disorderly fashion.
Especially its stomach, which bore a gaping mouth nearly a foot long.
It grinned, revealing a mouth full of sharp teeth, and continued to "cackle" at us.
No wonder the old couple had warned me to be wary of its stomach when they left.
This, it turned out, was the evil spirit's true form.
Goosebumps erupted all over my body.
This was the most terrifying entity I had ever encountered.
Even though I tried my best to control myself and remain calm, not to panic.
It was still difficult to suppress the overwhelming fear surging within me.
"Kid, scared? The little bit of flesh on you probably isn't enough for me!"
As it spoke, the eyes on its body blinked incessantly.
The dozen or so mouths on its body opened and closed, laughing repeatedly.
The "cackling" laughter sent shivers down our spines.
Mo Ting and I stared at it in terror, breathing heavily.
Even the hot-headed Mo Ting was frozen by the horrifying sight.
After its sinister grin, the headless evil spirit suddenly took a step, raising its claw-like hands.
Opening the many mouths, large and small, on its body, it lunged at both of us once again.
